Courage to Change 10/18/18

Good morning MIP.  Today's reading talks about progress, not perfection.

Today's Reminder:  Instead of assuming that I have failed because I am learning a difficult lesson once more, I might embrace the experiences as part of a long-term healing process that requires repetition and practice.  I can trust that eventually I will learn it so well that it will become an automatic, confident, and healthy response.

Today's Quote from Madame de Stael:  "The human mind always makes progress, but it is a progress in spirals."

The reading suggest that as we pursue recovery, we may encounter opportunities to keep learning from long ago.  We may have learned and practiced detachment years or weeks ago, yet are faced with another life event which requires it again.  We should remember at these moments that our feelings might be the same, but we are NOT!  We are changing through recovery.

All ESH we gather is within us guiding our choices.  We might not even see it, but we are making progress and continue to do so with each step forward.  When we wonder, instead of considering a failure, perhaps we can consider we just need a deeper lesson.  Most likely, we have a greater awareness than before, and know to turn to HP more quickly or reach out to another in recovery without hesitation.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Progress, not perfection.  I came to recovery not believing I contributed to the chaos of my home/life.  As the fog lifted and I practiced recovery, more was revealed.  I did begin to see my part and of course, wanted to work recovery 'perfect'.  I am one who had to retire many hats including my perfection hat, my controlling hat, my managing hat, etc.  Focusing on one day at a time, moving forward through practicing program tools, with an intent on next right thing helped me learn that we're not designed to be perfect.  We are designed to be perfectly imperfect, and we will make mistakes or need re-teaching.
Today, I prefer to just live life on life's terms as best I can, relying on a Higher Power who loves me unconditionally.  Each time I stumble, I put my feet facing forward again and find a tool or tools to help me step forward.  My journey was never designed to be pain-free or straight - it's got curves, bumps, stop signs, and yields and I can accept that today better than yesterday.
Happy Thursday MIP - off to golf in a while - make it a great day!
Good Morning IAH-- This small slogan has really helped to turn my life around as I am no longer aiming for perfection at my first attempt but am now willing to keep showing up, using the tools and appreciating the progress I am making one day at a time. without this tool I would often abandon my project because I could not do it perfectly at my first effort
Thanks for your continued service- enjoy golf
Thanks IAH and Betty-I love this slogan because it allows me to see myself complete with imperfections, not having all the answers, and permission to make mistakes. In this way I can be human, and forgive myself in the same manner I forgive others. It's a wonderful way to start off today, with this slogan in mind, Lyne
Good morning ladies and mahalo for the daily service.  Progress not perfection gives me Margin to grow and to keep in mind I will still have the expectation and excitement of learning and practicing more.  I choose to practice progress rather than walking the tightrope of perfection.   ((((hugs)))) smile
