ODAT Reading 10-2

Yhe ODAT  reading for Oct 2    speaks about. Al-Anon being  a fellowship of equals. The reading points out the danger of having a "managing controlling person  directing the meetings.  The discussion goes on to explain that if we were not a fellowship of equals no one would be free enough to think or act on their own.

Alanon tools  provide  us with the ability to not" react" but to act in constructive well thought out manner.  The freedom that the group offers to each member is freedom of  choice and the ability to learn leadership skills as well as discovering their own inner self and  trust in a HP.  Great reading

Great reading today, Betty! Thank you for your service.

I love the 'Fellowship of equals' aspect to the meetings and program!

Thanks Betty and PandP-A fellowship of equals is such an important aspect to our program. I can see myself (my pain and progress) in many others all the time, both here on the board and in my F2F. Being able to put myself in others' shoes connects me to humanity. It helps me be humble and grateful, Lyne

Greetings all and happy Tuesday! We are back to summer temperatures and of course, that means the golf course and garden were calling my name!!!

I am grateful that Al-Anon promotes the fellowship of equals as do the other 12 Step programs. I've often heard the newest person is the most important as it serves as a reminder of where we were, where we are now and how we got here. In more than 30 years in recovery, I can count on one-hand the persons who were uber controlling and I can say that over time, when they are met with those who truly work recovery and respect each journey they don't usually stick around too long.

If it weren't for the circle of service - we arrive and others show us the way....we get healthier, and pass it along, and so it goes - the program would not be evergreen and perpetual. I am a grateful member and plan to continue growing/learning one day at a time. My theme for the year has been 'Seek to Understand'. When I am baffled by any moment in my day, I've been pausing to reflect on this. With people, I do try to put myself into their shoes. With events, I ask HP to show me the lesson. It's been an interesting theme and one I hope I've gathered some new patterns that stay with me.

Hope everyone has had a great day! Thank you Betty for your service and the daily and to all - thanks for the ESH and shares and being a part of my journey!
