The material presented
here is not Al-Anon Conference Approved Literature. It is a method
to exchange
information, ideas, feelings, problems and solutions on a personal
level.
As an FYI there are multiple resources to pull from when in crisis .. not only coming here .. there are many support websites where information can be found.
YouTube has a show called The Recovery Show and they offer a whole lot of good speakers from Mary Pearl to Eileen C, Larcene, Father Tom, .. so many wonderful Alanon black belts who tell it like it is when it comes to recovery.
I hope that people will search those out .. I will listen at work because it reminds me a few things .. first off I'm not alone .. 2nd off my recovery tools, it also reminds me how far I have come and how far I can go. Best of all it offers peace when there is my perceived crisis that is going on .. it offers strength that if they can get through their stories .. I can get through mine. It is a HUGE reminder of Alanon is a fellowship of MANY not a few. Sometimes it feels like a few.
BIG HUGS during this holiday and I hope you all have peace and serenity during what can be a difficult time.
S :)

Great share S and very informative. I really get a boost out of speakers just as you describe. When I wonder about the insanity around me, I feel less alone and that there's a light at the end of each/every tunnel when I hear the ESH of others.
How cool is it that in this modern age with technology we can tap into recovery tools 24 hours a day, 7 days a week? I recently had a discussion with my gal pals from high school about the goodness of the internet! We all have told our offspring what it was like to do research for school papers and assignments using Encyclopedias, Library research, etc. All of our kids looked at us like we had horns growing out of our heads! Of course, in my case, I would have been in even more trouble if I had spent less time on my studies so even then, HP knew what he/she was doing!!
Thanks for the lovely reminder of added tools for recovery toolboxes! (((Hugs)))

Many times I come on here late at night (when I finally have time) but most aren't online to hear me. Here is another tool I can utilize! Wonderful!

I want to say that I love father tom weston.
He has quite a few speeches about recovery and alanon on youtube. I listen to him when I'm feeling upset or down, he really just gets the program.
I wanted to thank you again, Serenity for posting this...
I am having issues with my mom, who is having huge problems with my father. To be honest, I used to think these things were mostly my father's fault (he does have several faults) but lately I am seeing that my mother is creating so much of her unhappiness herself. I have also begun to see where I get my co-dependent, "martyr," "fix-it/manage" behaviors! LOL!
Anyway, I shared this link with her, and she is utilizing it! She thanked me yesterday and told me that it is helping her. So Praise!!

Awww ... good to hear .. I have been blessed to hear many of these live .. I would have loved to hear Mary P and Eileen C .. however not yet .. I have heard Father Tom and LOVE him a great deal because I have a real affinity for Jesuit priests and want to go to the sabbatical they have in MO. He is truly a WONDERFUL speaker!!!
Some of them though really bring to light what I grew up with and there was no alcoholism that I was aware of at least in my home until I was in my teens. The ism's were crazy big time. I just didn't know it.
Anyway .. I'm very glad this helped!!!

I love those Serenity. I'm one that looks up all the "how to's" on YouTube. When I came in this room months ago...I find those speakers and let them run for a couple days! It's so comforting when I'm down, as I was then, and up:)
Hugs!
If anyone can suggest some other speakers to listen to I will greatly appreciate it! I listened to mary pearl last night and it was amazing and eye opening.
Thanks :)
