So, I've been stuck in a horrible dark place for a few months. It's something I have to watch out for, the old black dog, comes to visit me every so often. On Friday, without much thinking, I began to plan for a better week. So, today, being Monday where I am, I woke up at 5.30.No kids around, they rise at 6.45 and I have family here to watch them. By 6am, I was meeting a friend for a light walk/run. Friend was a no show, but that was fine: just the thought of being obligated to a prior commitment was enough to get me out the door. Exercised for 15 minutes and went for a nice ride.
As I was returning, the sun was rising over the water, so I stopped to enjoy it. And realised in all the years I have spent here, ( on and off over three decades) this morning was the first time I'd ever caught the sunrise over this stretch of ocean in a state of sobriety. This realisation hit around the same time as the endorphins. It was so good! So just for today, I am trying something new, and trying to stay in the light filled moments. I feel much better. I will try to keep it up, one day at a time.
(((a4l))) - sounds absolutely lovely....the morning, the view, the sunrise, the effort. Sending tons of love and light your way!! Prayers for a continuation of a better day - just for today!

((A41)) So pleased that you were able to appreciate the sunrise I have experienced similar awareness and was also amazed at the fact that I had never taken the time to feel and appreciate the beauty that surrounded me. Glad that you are beginning to feel better
(((a41))) Sounds like you had a beautiful start to your day, thank you for sharing. I too have had that black dog of despair visit from time to time. Good on you for making a plan and keeping that commitment to yourself. The beauty of mother nature always lifts my spirits when I get out there. The song of the birds early morning, a lovely sunrise or even a soft summer rain can be so calming. Hope you keep on keeping on and Keep Coming Back.
((((a41)))) Thank you for sharing a wonderful word picture, I'm enjoying the arrival of those endorphins along with the sun's first kiss. I think it is magical to see a familiar view with such a fresh perspective and memories of moments like yours sustain me. Thank you for the reminder.
My black dog appreciates a bit of exercise and seems to forget himself when I'm touched by nature!! Happy tail wagging.
Such a beautiful share! I could almost feel myself next to you, enjoying that sunrise! Keep in the light!
Peace
