Getting along to my area assembly...

 Attending an Alanon Assembly...

I did not so alone- as I usually do... which was great...

when people came up with group reports... I stepped up at the end. I wanted to upload what had happened to my group- and the part I played in it.

I could have called in the district rep- and I didn't. I am committed to Alanon and considered restarting the group in our town. I will have to wait 6

to 8 weeks. My SO has breast cancer and is awaiting minor surgery. I want to make this my first option.

If I start a group I would have a monthly meeting- to gauge support. This is a fairly small town- but it is growing fast. I might winkle out one or two older Alanon members who have come to live here. Maybe.

But it is important to maintain a link with the assembly and continue to attend meetings. At the moment I regard this MIP Alanon group as my home group. I am keeping my membership current. This group has the strength of members from all over the world. recently i have stopped up to take a slightly more active part... so that my experience of Alanon and group policy is fresh.

Thanks Y'all... aww ...

OMG! The car talk- on the way to the assembly... and the way home... was like 6 months of meetings- may 8 months...!

On the Alanon board here- I don't read all of threads. I see some of the threads as a conversation- between that group of people...

I no longer feel like I have to be there for everyone. Not any longer. I love this place. Over time ah interact with most members

over some issue or another- and it is friendly and forward... aww ...

It feels like a mega-group, in a big city somewhere... smile ...

((David)) good work on attending.  I do believe that"When the Student is  ready the teachers appear".

Prayers and positive thoughts going out to you and your SO.

Hugs David. I love this group. I learn so much from all of you with so much time in the program! I learn from newcomers also. I'm pretty new back here myself. I haven't given up on the suggestion from Betty on starting an Alanon meeting in this little rural area. I am however learning more and having to prioritize until I get through physical therapy. An hour+ of doing the workouts at home between appointments.....still leaves me wanting to just scream from time to time. I have a patience issue and laying down in odd positions until pain subsides doesn't mix with jumping into action. Yet.

Thank you both for all you do and share. I am soaking it all in and then some. I too will be praying for you and your SO.

Good on you for considering starting back up a meeting, and going to the assembly! Love your description of the car ride - made me chuckle....

I'm sending tons of positive thoughts and prayers for you, your SO, her surgery and recovery and your next steps for Al-Anon in your area. Keep doing you David - looks great on ya!!
