The material presented
here is not Al-Anon Conference Approved Literature. It is a method
to exchange
information, ideas, feelings, problems and solutions on a personal
level.
The ODAT reading for May first speaks about the Al-Anon and AA program being founded on a spiritual basis. The reading points out that both programs acknowledge our dependence on a power greater than ourselves and the thousands of Al-Anon and AA groups around the world have members of many faiths and we do not follow any religious discipline .
The program simply accept the idea that there is a Power which is more important than man's own individuality. We believe we can not live successfully without reliance on this Power . In addition we must follow the ethical standards of behavior based on every spiritual philosophy.
The final thought is that we can find peace of mind and the fulfillment only through devotion to something above and beyond ourselves.
When we understand our relationship to God we begin to understand humility and that is essential for faith. True humility will remind me to live and let live. Having faith in a Higher Power can help me to overcome many fears because if I believe in a Power greater than my own,it would be unreasonable for me to behave as if I was all wise .

What a lovely reminder today! I don't have all the answers, but I can leave that up to a power greater than myself, and trust in my faith that HP will sort it out. This allows me to let go of things that are out of my control, and focus my thoughts and actions on the one thing I can control - myself!
I hope everyone has a lovely day! Mother Nature decided that it is now summer, and so I'm looking forward to putting the AC units in the windows tonight. The pups told me they were much too hot last night

Good morning Betty & Skorpi! Happy May Day or Lei Day for those in HI...Thank you Betty for your service and for both of your shares and ESH.
I found myself uncomfortable at first to let go....I wasn't so sure that there was a power greater than me looking out for me and all others. Yet, my pain and despair were great enough that it felt like the only solution as well as the best solution. So, with doubt and uncertainty, I practiced praying to and believing in a power greater than I.
I have found this to be my daily 'Step 1'. If I find myself skipping out on my routine, I return and start my day over. Simply stated, for me my days go much better when I rely on the will of a higher power than my own.
Make it a great day. We've got some storms heading our way and lovely temperatures. Layla hates thunder so she has her nose stuck to the back of my knee!! She busted out of the yard yesterday and couldn't get back without help. It was a warm day and she was stressed and anxious when I found her so that's not helping her today....I guess being of service to my sweet friend is what I am supposed to be doing! ha.ha.ha.....(((Hugs)))

Thanks everyone for service and ESH. My life has definitely improved since I found my HP years ago, and now with program that belief and dependence has ever deepened. I am pleased that this is one area of my life I don't have to struggle with. I don't know why it came easy to me, but I am grateful, Lyne
