Stubborness:  The writer discussed letting his faucet drip and over time it did extensive damage.  It forced him to get help.  With Alanon he learned he can handle things differently.  Sharing in meetings and putting experience into words, has allowed him to no longer push problems aside.  He can now face problems before they explode.

Today's Reminder:  Today I will share honestly about something that has been nagging at me.  My life deserves my attention.

Quote from Living with Sobriety:  One of the most helpful aspects of the Alanon / Alateen fellowship is the opportunity we have to voice our dilemmas, confident that we won't be condemned for speaking frankly.

----------------------------------------------------------

I must share that I wasted many years when I could have been receiving help from Alanon.  What was I thinking as I sank deeper and deeper into severe distress?  Even when I joined MIP, I was resolved to never get a sponsor nor go to a F2F.  I spent over a decade denying/unaware/misinformed-you name it-the effects of living with an alcoholic were suffocating me.  This Amish Proverb reminds me of me:  We grow too soon old, and too late smart!  However dedicated to my program now, I can say:  Better late than never, and Progress not perfection, Lyne

Thanks for posting this. It is a thought-provoking reading. C2C is my go-to, every single day. Morning, afternoon, and evening.

I love the moving forward mentality. It's easy to live looking in the rearview mirror. It's easy to automatically think or revert to the negative. However, you are right -- better late than never!!!

Good Morning Lyne Love this reminder and so agree with the statement"My life deserves my attention" prior o program it seems that, to me, everyone else's life deserved my attention so I could purposefully make mine invisible..
I never wanted anyone to give me advise and so i lived in denial and pretend until I entered program and interacted with a group of people who truly understood. The only advise i received was:" KEEP COMING BACK AND USE THE STEPS AND SLOGANS".

Thanks for your service.   Glad that we are  sharing the journeyaww

Thank you for your service, Lyne, and the ESH. I used to let the faucet drip alright, naively hoping it would stop doing that by itself. I was convinced then that I was just this super patient person, when in reality I just wasn't ready to take responsibility for my well-being or set any boundaries... It comes really slowly for me to learn to speak up for myself, there's more progress in some areas and I'm struggling big time in others, still waiting for explosions.

Thank you for your service Lyne. This is a great reminder. While I tend to get overwhelmed quickly, there is a component of stubbornness in the mix, for sure. It is the times when I dig my heels in that I need to lean into Alanon the most. My life does need attention and sometimes I still don't know how. I am grateful and have hope.

Good morning, MIP!
Stubbornness is definitely one of my character defects. I've often just ignored things, hoping they will get better on their own. Today, I'm glad to have AlAnon, so I can decide whether I care that the faucet is dripping or not, and if I DO care, I can take proactive steps to fixing the leak.

I hope everyone has a wonderful day!

Good morning MIP - thank you Lyne for your service and the daily. Thanks for the shares and ESH above me all! I believe Stubborn is or could have been my middle name. For as long as I can remember, I fought everything and everyone for any reason at any time!

Al-Anon gave me a new pair of glasses. One that can pause long enough to consider if I even have skin in the game. I will gladly today select being happy over being right. I too felt as if I wasted tons of time obsessing about others and many things beyond my control. Yet, I no longer wonder what would have been if I'd arrived sooner only because I believe that my journey is and has been exactly as designed by a power greater than I.

Happy Monday to one and all - doing a few chores and then some errands and then meeting my sponsor at the driving range. My are to have 40 MPH winds this afternoon - my hope is they are blowing in the direction that best benefits my golf shots!!! Make it a great day all!
