The meetings really helped me early on. Later, when my situation worsened they have been a lifesaver. This program is helping me in every area of my life.

I too send a welcome out to you Phil. I too started my recovery with meetings. It's been a game changer for me, and following the suggestions I learned in Al-Anon have helped in all my affairs. In Al-Anon, you find a fellowship of others who truly understand what it's like living with an alcoholic - active or in recovery.

It's a safe place to listen, share, learn, heal and grow. I hope you find your way to a meeting soon! If you don't like the first one, try another. Keep coming back here too - there is hope and help in recovery!

Welcome to the board Phil and I empathize with you.  Your post reminds me what it was and I was and she was like when I first found the Family Groups.  We didn't know anything and had to learn from others.  Attending the face to face groups and listening with a wide open mind and asking for help was the right thing to do because all we were doing was the wrong things.  We didn't know about alcoholism and didn't even know that we didn't know.

The program saved my life and sanity and I hold on to it on a daily basis.   Find your meeting and attend regularly.  Get the literature and use it daily and you will like the changes.  Alcoholism is not normal to either of you so you gotta learn.

Keep coming back.   ((((hugs)))) smile

Hi Phil, welcome!

I can just echo what others have said already.

Daily work in the program helps to keep me sane and focusing on myself - the one person I can change.

Keep coming back

Welcome Phil...if you go to face to face alanon meetings, then you are in the right place.

The best -- and the only -- "advice" you are going to get here is: a) go to face to face alanon meetings, as many as you can; b) use the daily readers, Courage To Change and One Day At A Time; c) Find a sponsor and start focusing and working on YOU.

When we go to face to face meetings, the people in those rooms know, feel, understand, exactly what you are feeling and experiencing. They've been there, and they have gone through it. You can learn from them. It's a safe place, it's the right place, for YOU.

All the best.
