Courage to Change 3/2/18

Good morning MIP and happy Friday!  Today's reading talks about one of our great tools - CAL or Conference  Approved Literature.  The writer suggests that the literature taught her to replace a long-established, negative way of thinking with a new, healthier, more positive approach to life and love.

We find often that new members turn to the literature when in pain.  For many of us, over time, it becomes a daily tool - a morning reminder that helps us start each day on a positive note.  The writer suggests that she 'thinks' about the daily reading, writes a brief summary on a note card, and carries that each day to consider.  That note card is pulled out when remembered, and many times it has brought a difficult situation into perspective or offered a different approach to a project or conversation.

Today's reminder --  I have a wealth of information available to me which can help me grow ever freer from the effects of alcoholism on my thinking.  Today I will make CAL a part of my routine by listening to a tape or by reading a pamphlet or chapter of a book.

The quote of the day is from "This is Al-Anon" --  "The Al-Anon books and pamphlets, read each day, have opened our minds to the certainty of a better and more rewarding way of life."

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Literature for me has become part of my daily routine.  I do find that morning readings center me and remind me to work on staying in the middle of the boat aligned with my HP.  As with all things in recovery, I had to take the action and practice, practice, practice as my thinking was patterned in a much different way - mostly negative.
I love that no matter what I read - a daily, a pamphlet or another piece of literature - they all support a better way to think, do, live and love.  I'm grateful for this program, my recovery and all of you who are a part of my journey!
For those in the NE area, stay safe with the weather heading your way.  Make it a great day all...
Happy Friday IAH I so agree as I love the CAL literature and do start each day with either the ODAT or the C2C. in the beginning of this journey I absorbed every piece of literature that I could find and to this day still review the"Just for Today" bookmark and the flyer on detachment. I do so agree with the quote from:" This is AlAnon" and suggest that all new comers spend time with these powerful tools.
Thanks for your service and stay safe .
Thank you and looking forward to a great day! The books are indispensable and part of my arsenal to help me see where I may be off or need to apply the correct view. Usually not my own view LOL!!
Have a great day everyone!!! Hugs!!!
Thank you IAH for your service.
I use the C2C daily, as well as other CAL. The most important part for me is to practice, practice, practice. That means, do not let those things get dusty on the shelf!
We actually have some real rain today! Huzzah!
