Courage to Change (C2C) 12/14/17

Today's reading is about dealing with loss and change in life.  We are reminded that there are many forms of loss - divorce, incarceration, death, sickness and even emotional change.  With the help of Al-Anon fellowship and our program, we become aware that we can get through anything with a spiritual life and our foundation established by working this program.

The writer discusses a huge loss and the process of grieving.  She/he learned to go back to Step One and admit powerlessness over the loss.  She owned her powerlessness and became aware that she found hope in relying on a power greater than self.  Step by Step, she learned to live with the loss and the pain until she began to feel alive again.

Today's reminder --- Pain and loss are part of life.  No matter what I do, I will not be able to change that fact.  But with the fellowship to support me and the Steps to guide me, I will be able to face, and grow through, anything that comes my way.

Today's quote ---  "The foundation I have developed in Al-Anon not only makes me grateful when things are going well, but also makes me realize that the program works especially when things go badly."  from ... In All Our Affairs

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I have come to rely on all aspects of this program at one time or another to deal with 'life on life's terms'.  Loss is an unfortunate but inevitable part of our human experience.  Even though it's unpleasant and unwanted, it is yet still another chance for me to learn more about why I exist, how I tick and what's important.
While I can not control or avoid loss, I can process the loss and grieve in a healthy manner.  I can also lean into this program and rely on a power greater than me to be of service to others when they are hurting.  With each day I try to live aligned with this program, I feel closer to my HP and less alone.  I do believe I can make it through anything and that is vastly different than before recovery.
Our foundation allows us to live each day with as much grace and dignity as we want.  This program has helped me try to find what's good in life vs. what's wrong in life.  I am so grateful for the fellowship and lessons I've learned - what a miracle that a gal like me could find balance, peace and joy in the middle of this disease.
Happy Thursday to one and all.  Make it a great day!
Good Morning I AH Before program i was never able to accept the concept of "life on life's terms". I thought that if I planned my life carefully and worked by all the rules I could avoid all the pain. I guess i thought I was God and did not see how truly foolish this attitude was.
Being confronted by this dreadful disease I found how unprepared I was for life and my how faulty my attitudes were. Living one day at a time and working the Steps allowed me to shed many of my unrealistic expectations and allowed the courage, and wisdom I had ignored that resided deep within to surface.
I have experienced many painful losses during my lifetime, however thanks to program the loss of my husband and son did not destroy my faith or me . i truly appreciate the great wisdom i have received from these rooms, as well as the compassion and support of each member
Thanks for your service and have a beautiful day.
