Todays reading is about serenity; how doe we achieve it? Why did it seem elusive when we were new to the program? Can we be in control of our serenity?
Something that resonated with me from this page was how the writer described her experience as a weathervane- her movement (serenity) dependent on what others were doing. I remember feeling that when married- the tone of the house was set on where my AH was at in those days. I consider serenity now to be part of what i think of as my soul... the real inner sense of ME. I am going to do the work it takes not to let it get shaken. I also appreciate in the quote at the end of the reading the reminder that while we cannot control much we can be in control of our serenity. I am learning to recognize when there is a situation that belongs to someone else and I know that staying out of it helps me maintain my serenity.
Thank you yanksfan51 for posting our daily today,
This is a reminder to me to continue saying the serenity prayer which brings me peace of mind every time I say it to myself ,
I was told one time if I was in a panic or with anxiety while driving my car,to simple say the serenity prayer 5 times ,it worked to my amazement, then n only then I was able to feel serenity and drive home........hugs lu
Thank you for your service, Mary, and for both your ESH on the topic. Just the reminder I need - any day! Learning to maintain my serenity one day at a time... Have a great Sunday!
Good morning Mary Thank you and everyone else for sharing your thoughts on this important subject. I love how you stressed that serenity resides deep within your soul and you guard it continually. I know when I first felt serenity deep within, I decided that I had worked oh so hard to achieve this priceless gift that I would use all my tools to never surrender it again and I have. my anger, resentment self pity and fear my fly overhead but i refuse to pull them in to ruin my serenity. Thanks for your service Mary
Thank you Mary. I am striving to accomplish exactly what you wrote about. Today I actually have the opportunity to practice: my dog is in the ICU, my A and I are at odds about how to proceed forward, there is tension between us from the past as well as the present, and there is not peace between us. However, I do have an inner calmness this morning that I know is only possible from program. I will try to hold onto this as I go through the day, Lyne
Good morning to one and all above me! Thank you for your shares and your ESH. Mary - thank you for the daily and your service too.
I do remember how calm others seemed when I arrived. I truly thought it must be forced or fake. However, as I observed and listened, it was genuine...and I really wanted what they had. It was elusive as I was stuck in what was wrong and self-will. I really believed and acted as if all I needed was others to be as I thought they should be.
In comes the tools and steps this program provides and slowly, I learned that my serenity is directly connected to my alignment with a power greater than myself. I must take action to surrender and focus on self for my serenity to be and stay. I too will go to any lengths possible to retain it and am grateful for the tools that assist me each and every day.
Happy Sunday all - off to a meeting in a short while and then my NFL team has a bye week! What's a girl to do? ha.ha.ha.ha. Make it a great day!!

hey Mary...GREAT share...I used to feel bad when another , especially a loved one, was having it bad..I felt "bad" for feeling good when they did not....Not so bad now..I deserve my good days and I no longer take anothers temperature to see what mine is, but it took a lot of work and practice, breaking these old sick habits.....and I can relate.."the tone of the house was set on where my AH was at in those days" Oh yea, can relate big time...thank you for the reminder.....and thanks for your service....
Thank you, Mary, for your service. I am enjoying reading everyone's ESH as well!
This is a great reminder for me, as I am newer to the program and still catch myself ruining my serenity. A work in progress for sure!
