How Important Is It?

Today I have some serious stressors, and it is important for me to focus on my alanon tools instead:  How important is it, Keep it simple, Let go and let God, etc.  I have a choice before me to succumb to the pain and worry, or be aware of what blessings I do have, and what I can accomplish for me.  Sometimes I migtt seem selfish to others who know nothing of program.  Learning to take care of myself, and often be my own priority, may seem strange to outsiders.  It is from years of being in the official doormat club, and quieting my voice, that has led me to embrace program.  I remain a grateful member of alanon, Lyne

((Lyne)) your program sounds strong and it is at difficult times that we do sense the extraordinary power of this program Your hard work and dedication is evident.

Lyne, this is so true. In reading this, I started being happy for you for the benefits you have received. (focused on others!) Before the end of the post, I knew my real joy is for myself and the many, uncountable times I too have benefitted from using these slogans. Every time I use them, I benefit.
I too am so thankful for the wisdom.

(((Lyne))) - lovely share and so, so true. I have to remind myself that others outside our program don't always understand why we do what we do and then remind myself that it's not about them, but about me. I'm sending you positive thoughts and prayers - the power of recovery still amazes me each time I pause long enough to consider the many gifts! Glad you are part of my journey!
