advise/suggestion/help, minor coming home from rehab

hi all, its been a while.  granddaughter 17, coming home from rehab, (2 months),  in about a week.  her parents and us live in one house.  she seems to be doing well.  since we all live together i want to ask 'being her village/support, now that she is coming home, what/how do we help her to be successful' .. please help me with stating that the correct words. .  i am not her parent and i know ultimately her success is hers and hers alone.  but since we all live under one roof wouldn't it be advantage for the harmony / peace in the house to know what is expected and not.  ?    please help.... thanks,

Hi Runi glad to see you posting here. Alanon literature suggests that we increase our meetings, remember Step 1,2 and 3 offer to talk, if the person wants . Keep an open mind and leave some literature about. The Just for Today book mark is perfect . Sending positive thoughts your way

She will have a recovery set from the program she is  in that she should be carrying out and I would ask them for it so that it can be out in the open in the house.  It is her responsibility to get and stay clean and sober and not the rest of the house to enable her wants and needs although I know the reality of that myself.  If you are willing the addict/alcoholic can keep you working fulltime.    Getting her around recovering people is important...literature, meetings, sponsorship, events will make the situation easier for the rest of the house.

I use to counsel adolescent alcoholics and addicts and they are a trip to say the least.  Keep up your program daily is best practice and keep coming back here also.   (((hugs))) wink
