I am at a loss at the moment and I am seeking information about my first X. All I need to know is a marriage date I actually have everything else.
I need it for my job and to get my DL in TX. This is the most RIDICULOUS thing I have ever been through and we are talking about a marriage that has been done for over 20 years. Trust me I have no interest in looking back.
Does anyone know of a reputable site .. all I need is the date because I am going to have to request a damn license from the county. OR wait 5 weeks and I just can't it would be faster for me to drive to the state of California and get the information at this point. I am ready to seriously cry. I am at my limit at the moment.
I do not know my marriage date and I'm not even sure of the year and it gets more convoluted because why would anything I am involved with be easy .. the worst part is I feel that my work is basically accusing me of lying. I have literally gone 5 times and stood in hours worth of lines to try and get what I need .. I have begged, cried and almost given up when it comes .. this all comes down to changing my maiden name .. had I not done that NONE of this would be happening at this point. Today was the last straw. I have purchased a car, registered it as well as gotten insurance .. however I can't get a driver's license. Who would have thought.
The story goes I got married at the bottom of the grand canyon .. the day/year eludes me. The pastor didn't sign the paperwork until MONTHS maybe even a year later. So when it was filed it was filed way late. I got divorced as bad as this will sound shortly before my 2nd X and I got married .. I just never finished filing. I had avoided getting divorce because I wanted to pretend none of it happened. I don't know if the divorce paperwork would show the date. My current divorce decree doesn't show my maiden name and if it did NONE of this would be and issue.
Anyone up for a challenge? Please feel free to inbox me. I have struck out so far. I can't afford to wait 5 weeks or I will have no job at this point. The decree will take that long to get as well.
TIA .. S

(((Serenity))) - I have never used any of those sites....would a high school diploma work? Is that easier to find/get? College transcripts? I only suggest the educational route as they (I've been told) keep the records longer than any other beyond a government agency. Social Security Admin - they have a way to join (for checking future benefits) - perhaps they've got all of your name modifications?
I am sending you positive thoughts/prayers!

Hi Serenity, I had to look up a long-past marriage when applying for Social Security. If you know the county in which you got the marriage license, maybe you can do a search for the County Clerk's office, get their phone number, and call them to find out if the information you have -- like the names and month/year of marriage -- would allow them to find the marriage record.
Good luck! I know it sometimes seems crazy the documentation they ask for.
I have lived in multiple states and this one is crazy with the rules lol. That's never happened to me before. I tried to call directly unfortunately I was unable to obtain the information. I may try again just to see if they offer a suggestion.

(((SerenityRUS))) Some states have online court records and other states require a form to be completed for a copy of the information. If dealing with a municipality, I have found it less likely for the information to be provided over the phone. Likewise, the people answering the phone may not be the person you need to speak with - so it may take several tries to reach someone who can help you.
Sending positive thoughts and prayers and please keep us posted!
