What did I do to take care of me today????

I like to do "challenge" posts, kinda...FUN, but sorta keeps me focused on what did I do to take care of me today???

I had an old gift certificate from the animal shelter and I almost had forgotten it...well?? i went to the shelter today to visit the doggies and kitties and I met this canine charmer...3 months old...LOTS of sass and piss and vinegar....a cutie...He glommed onto me like I did him.....So i pulled out the gift cert. and the shelter attendent says "oh yea , thats good---FREE puppy"   AND aug. 10th they will fix him and rabie him all on their dime....all i had to do was get 2 more boosters for him that I will administer myself and I began a 3 day worming on him that I do routinely on a new family member...

I got him with the 2 other dogs,  the younger one is 4 months old and thinks she could push this little guy around  "oh yea, NOW I am not the smallest....little man brace yourself...I'm gonna show you what Bi*** slapping is all about'  so she goes after him and he put her on her back so fast, , nice but like "I got bollux...don't you forget that" so they just ran and played all afternoon till my supper time

I worked out today on my new total body workout machine and booooy did it feel good

I also trimmed and thinned my hair so it looks halfway manageable

I did stuff nice for me....the puppy being the big thing...Now I got 3 dogs...but because I know how to do a lot of the "vet stuff"  it won't be that much more expensive having him....hes a little brown lab/pitbull so hes gonna be a watchdog because at this early age, I can see  "hes got GAME"   LOTS of it and hes curious...smart....already loves cuddling in my lap.....

now i am on my bed, waiting for my dinner to cook and i got my alanon literature, some CAL  and some isn't b/c i need to practice managing my GAD and PTSD and i did a lot of online research and got some great stuff to help me stay in the moment....

Took GOOD care of me today.......

Footnote

ya know??? even 2 years ago, I might have been obsessing over my terminally ill sister, or peeing and moaning about how BAD this year has been, but thanks to alanon and the program pieces, I can , yea, vent and cry and talk it out, but I can also see the good and WHAT CAN I DO TO HELP ME?? rather than be a victim....I still don't like being powerless because it triggers me re; my helplessness of the past but I am learning to step back...breathe....get help or wait till it sorts it self out.....i'm not as bad...not as reactive....

So , family, what did you all do to take care of you????    HUGS of gratitude from me......this place is THE BEST!!!!!!

Nice day...good for you. I decided to leave the office early, come home, relax, catch up on some reading, smoke a cigar and then went to a meeting tonight. An enjoyable day and evening.

Hmmm, well today was a day that I made about everyone else it seems by taking care of the house after work, staying up late to get all the dishes done, making dinner, etc. But, I did do my job to the best of my ability today, I met with a friend who was struggling with work and he and I had a nice lunch, and I also rested and took a brief nap before I made dinner.

But, then I snapped later in the evening, which basically tells me that I need some time to clear my head and that I'm under stress. Thank you for reminding that it's ok to take care of myself and that I need self care to stay mentally stable.

hey andromeda...your avatar is lovely ...and to respond to your post???  Boy what a progress moment I had....my sister is terminally ill in a care facility b/c she was too bad for my daughter and her sisters to care for, so the girls put her in this care facility

my job has been to (since they are in CA and I am in TX) keep up her facebook page with the updates for her friends.....so here i get bombed with PM's all day long and I just thought, if I answer EACH person , I'll never get to do "my stuff" and "My stuff" MEANS taking care of me...making sure i rest enough...eat healthy (except for fridays when I binge on my candies)  AND i need my exercise to manage my  GAD/PTSD  so I did a post, tagging her on my board so it was on MY page and HER page and I just told everyone that I appreciated all the interest and prayers, but PLEASE read my board, I will do updates on HERS and MY boards...I cant answer all theses PM's and take care of me and i do work PT and I have 2 puppies to care for, etc.,  so I put the posts up and I know this one guy is on because I see him on chat when I am posting this stuff...hours later, he PM's me wanting to know the blow by blow news....I just typed   "read my board, please"  and i thanked him for his concern......I would be on this computer all day, if i fielded all those PM's.....so I told everyone to please be patient, I will post updates AS I GET NEWS and to read her board or my board.......so far I got a lot of support in that I set this boundary and I am standing to it........

MIP Messaged a sponse, and snuggled my sweet pups. A great start to my day, I think! Hope you have a self-care kind of day today, too!

ROFL.....since I slept and it's a new day, I can't even remember - except meeting, run, work-out, reading, cooking, Royal's baseball....

I guess I take ODAT way more serious that I thought - it's a new day!!! (((Hugs)))

((Rose)) I love the reminder to take care of me, thank you. I woke up before the family got up, went to the back yard, did 30 minutes of yoga, then some prayer and meditation and enjoyed a cup a coffee and a banana, it was a very peaceful start to my day.

Mamalioness - LOVE this thread! Thank you for reminding me to do something for me! It's not yet time for work, and it's going to be over 100 degrees today, so I watered my plants! I guess I can work on the 'me part' more! LOL!

Thank you for this challenge, mama :) Today I attended my meeting, stopped talking to my abf over the phone when he got to the blaming part, ate a big mid-day meal, read and posted on MIP.

I spoke to a program friend about something that was bothering me and it really helped me to gain some perspective on this issue. I bought myself a new outfit (I really needed some new clothes), tonight I'm going to the gym just for me!

I'm doing a "searching and fearless" inventory of my house, and freeing myself of things I don't want or need. It might sound like hard work, but I'm really enjoying it and feeling satisfaction.

I better write about today or I'll forget!!! I went golfing with my sponsor - we had fun and my golf game is about the same! I cleaned out my car trunk, made a huge salad, cleaned out my ball bag and am relaxing as it's hotter than hot here!

I am a creature of habit so start my day the same way - my coffee, my readers, my HP and a run....(((Hugs)))

Today, after exercising the puppies, I went and played tennis...got a good workout in...serve is coming up REAL good..ground strokes hard and accurate..volleys spot on....really happy with my game.....

THEN I went to goodwill to get some doggies toys and found BRAND NEW the cutest Jeans, multi color and adorable so i grabbed them....didn't find anything for the dogs........

THEN I played basketball with my neighbor...we dribbled, did layups and shots from outside the parameter (we were on street as that is where is hoop is) but we knew where we were if in a real court....it was fun.......after that, i played with puppies, now they are in bed, in their crates, so the mature dog and I can have some quiet time.......ate supper.... gonna make me some toast, butter and jam for a snack here in a bit......not in the mood for my "sea salt and caramel" ice cream which is sooooo good, maybe tomorrow when I have my steak after work.................and yea, its hot here...we had a brief rain...this is the rainiest july i've seen.....started when i was outside with puppies.....Mr. Puppy is fitting right in....real smart...adaptive....i'm lucky , all three of these dogs are really bright.....AND they are waaaaay better than me about staying in the moment and being mindful, LOL
