Good morning MIP - sorry for the late post of the daily...
Today's reading talks about the journey of recovery. What is discussed is how the 4th Step revealed the habit of assuming the destination was the 'end-game' and where the joy would be found. Often, we find that we are rushing through the days to 'get there'.
Recovery helps us to understand the joy and peace are actually found during every moment of the journey. Taking life one day at a time, and staying present in the moment helps us to better embrace all that life is as we progress instead of the rush to get to the 'end'.
I know for me, the habit of hurry and getting 'there' is as I was before recovery. It was a habit I have had for as long as I can remember. I know try really hard to just focus on the here and the now - one moment and one day at a time.
My ability to mind my own business, enjoy many moments of each day and finding joy in most tasks helps me be at peace in my journey - no matter what else is happening. i can pause, consider, reflect and then allow God to lead me where I need to go. Works so much better than the before 'me'.
Make it a great day all - heading out to golf shortly - WELCOME BACK BETTY!!!

Good Morning IAH. Love this concept and and the alanon tools that enabled me to stay in the moment and in the day.
Prior to program I had 1 foot in yesterday and one food into tomorrow. and so I completely missed the present moment. Living one day at a time, using all the slogans and the serenity prayer, accepting my powerlessness, gave me permission to enjoy the simple treasures that are around today. Just returning from vacation. I realize how different vacations are now that I use all my tools and focus on the present moment.
Thanks for the welcome back and your service. Good luck on your golf game
Thank you for your service, IAH. I've got pretty bad cough and temperature today, but on the plus side, this means I'm staying at home till Monday. Trying to enjoy myself at home as much as I can under the circumstances :)
