The material presented
here is not Al-Anon Conference Approved Literature. It is a method
to exchange
information, ideas, feelings, problems and solutions on a personal
level.
The ODA T reading for March 5 speaks about the 12 steps and the serenity prayer. The reading points out that both of these important tools can be applied to all our problems whether or not they are related to alcoholism or not.
From one miracle to another we can feel the joy of beginning, each new day expectantly , confident that it will hold for for us challenges and happiness that we have the tools and wisdom to appreciate.. We also know that if a crisis should occur or any problem baffles us we have tools to live life successfully.
We are strengthened by the Al-Anon philosophy and find ourselves able to look at things in their proper perspective . What a gift this is.
I pray to accept with a serene mind things I cannot change knowing it is futile to be obstinate about the inevitable I pray to be resolute to take action on things I that might be changed.
One day at a time this program has become part of my thinking and feeling. It is now who I am and how I express my inner most being.
Thank you Betty for your service and great reminder for me. I do my best to apply the program to all aspects of my life. An example for me is how I apply the slogan "first things first" throughout my day, not only with the effects of alcoholism, but also when dealing with my children. I can remind myself that spilled juice is not a crisis and the first thing I really need to do before cleaning it up is to attend to my own needs by keeping my reaction toward my children in check. As I write this, they're probably in the other room now spilling juice :) I hope you have a lovely weekend.

Thanks Betty for your service, the daily and your ESH. All I know is the program works when we work it, and I am so grateful we are asked to only consider one day at a time. I'm grateful for the tools, steps and slogans and know that I reach into my toolbox each day, some days many times, and am able to apply something that works well for me!
Happy Sunday to one and all - off to a meeting in a short while....decent weather we are having in my neck of the woods! Make it a great day all!

thanks betty for this from me too .. been really looking at that how important is it lately .. reflecting on what had been the most important thing in the alcoholic household .. after all these years i 'finally appreciate this slogan for 'finally 'beginning to understand it a little deeper .. i love your thread because as we read in every meeting 'here offline .. study of these steps is essential to progress in the alanon program 'and applicable to 'everyone (humans period as well as alcohol) ..
