ODAT reading 1/27

I hear a lot of compassion & not wollowing in self pity in this reading. Staying in today and not predicting this to be a forever thing I cannot deal with. In it I hear about caring without being a crutch. That takes practice and listening to how others have walked this path. "I love you but..." were 4 words that helped me from a veteran member. She used to start her sentences that way when she would need to step back from a crisis or argument she had been "invited" to.

"I care about u---& I will support your recovery but I cannot support the disease" was another helpful example I heard. Several times those words got me out of difficult encounters with my dignity intact. When I let myself get pulled in it is usually because I am not focusing on my side of the street,my business wihtin my won hoolahoop--- on some level I am thinking I might have some control over the A or their consequences or choices---gotta know when to get back to the waltz steps 1-2-3, 1-2-3...

Great share Luv - thank you for the daily and your ESH. I did a little laugh out loud on the waltz analogy - that's so, so true!!

When I focus on my recovery and my side of the street with some effort each day, I am less likely to be sucked back into my old patterns and habits. It's taken me a long time to be consistent, but for me, daily patterns and habits around our tools really sets the stage for my best days. When I reflect each evening, I can see the 'cause/effect' of putting anything else in front of my program....I so prefer to be proactive in self-love than reactive!

Make it a great day!!
