Hi everyone. I am quite concerned re Johns status as he was unable to be present at the meeting he called for the future of this board. Is any One person able to make a connection with him, or his home? I Do believe this should be done. Also for to find out the access to keep this board up and running, and a plan B if it can't happen ie John is unable to communicate this information to anyone as his illness progresses. Is Anyone close enough to know of close connections, ie local friends, roomates etc? Not being an alarmist. Only prudent, as Hospice nursing was my profession. I base my impression on his post, email and picture, which I see is present yet after I didn't look down enough when tired. TY for prayerful consideration. NavGrace

I am friends with John. With my living in the South Pacific he is mainly a facebook friend. No sign of action there for three days. Will post any new information. I share your love and concern....
Also, the post is still here and his picture is still there, I just looked at it. http://alanon.activeboard.com/t63100577/the-transition-of-mip-meeting/
...at some point I think someone should make contact with the server for the board, and apprise them of the situation...
ACA has two group reps- but neither of us can make it Sunday. Alanon is by far the biggest group here on MIP... and "we" are drawing close to "the mother" at this time.
I spoke to John today and there is no need to panic. He is recovering and in complete control of his business sense. I know he will reach out to alert us in plenty of time to address the financials and server issues. Meanwhile the scheduled follow up transition meeting will continue to be held in the alanon chat room this Sunday at 6:PM. David, we can discuss your suggestions at that time.
Well Good to know! Panicking? No. Prudent thinking to allow continuance if Gods will was present. Glad to know I can throw the concern away. Wishing you all well as you proceed with this. God Speed to all!
We held our transition meeting today and are moving forward. Financials were discussed and I will contact John tomorrow and hope to provide more updated information then.
Ditto - thank you for the update and continuing to lift John and MIP up in prayer!!

The Alanon board is the biggest here with about 1000 hits per day.
The ACA board is the next biggest with about 200 hits per day.
We have two group reps, Mrs Snoopy, and myself david.
I contacted the server and came up with this information. It should complement Betty's approach to John today.
I replied to Dan- to contact John with the information.

Hi David,
I'm sorry to hear about John's illness.
There is an outstanding balance on the account, and the account may end up being downgraded to a free version quite soon unless it is cleared up. Should I pass on the specifics to John's email address?
Hi David Those are important questions and ones' I have asked John and am sure he will answer. When you indicated that we might go to "free" status I thought you might know what that covered - i was simply curious.:)
More will be revealed
Looking at the sparklit webpage, I don't see a free option, the cheapest I see is a US$6.49 version. I think John is on the $17.98 version, based on the meeting last night. Perhaps they would give us the cheapest version as a courtesy for a while? I suspect anything free wouldn't have nearly as many users available, etc.
What transition meeting??? lol I popped in just now to read your update you said you would post yesterday on past Sundays "meeting". There isn't one.
Several were inactive, you, Edna and others...No one answered basic questions or even acknowledged me. No one could answer my question for what was planned, or even say hello. A number of people were present. I saw others post things such as, "it must be a big secret" and leave...it was apparent others who attended were ignored as well. Your response here is lacking. Maybe it is not intended. You indicate ALL IS WELL:)))
Dave has shown otherwise, including Kenny and these are the same types of questions I was inquiring about as well. I was ready to help financially once details were discovered. Only it is discouraged and no information regarding coming two weeks in a row to learn Nada. Well, I believe this is not doing a service to the board. Opportunity for others involvement is being a part of the solution is discouraged, as the rest of us are not omnipotent. Transparency is lacking. It should have been stated, "A meeting will be held to vote in two reps from each area. The reps will meet and work out the details, and inform everyone else when they are ready to. Until then, continue as usual." Truthfully, this is what is displayed. If there is a future meeting, when, and where and the agenda should be posted for all to see. This is nonsense.
If it is a closed meeting as this past Sunday appears to be, it should be stated as so as to not waste peoples time. Also, the 2nd person on the Al Anon meeting room was not voted in at 50%, but apparently that is irrelevant as is the other "decisions" here? I counted the votes and the attendees. It was Below 50%, thus my asking for the remaining votes so no one would question at any time. No one took minutes. My question was disregarded. So, I now hold the belief there Is No Order. No meeting or election should be handled as such. Things should be undertaken with order, and not confusion. So I guess I will say, ty for the confusion! For those who have time for it. I don't with my own hospice situation I am liable for.
I myself am a person who is proactive, not reactive. Plan A, B and C should be at the ready to Avoid any collapse or partial services. Apparently, it is a panicking thought to think, or organize in this fashion.
Best Regards towards the success of this site, informative order and non controlling management when the help of all was initially sought. Words, and actions are not matching. Continued prayers as always for John, and MIP.
For the record there are several Edna's
This one is non-political as i am incapable of commitment beyond donations and esh on the board. I hope everyone can remain calm. Betty and Kenny, you both are trusted by this member. I'm sure more will be revealed, peace everyone
IMHO, the Committee needs some basic organizational structure; meeting notices, agendas, minutes, etc. It is very difficult for 21 people to agree on anything and get things done; there should be two representatives per group as originally planned.
I believe the Committee needs to appoint a business manager who will get the admin rights from John, pay the outstanding bill, and keep the site going. Then the group needs to find a way to generate the minimal funds to pay for the site.
I do not wish to get in to the discussion, but wanted to let users know they can pop over to the AA board and read the info on John. It is VERY INFORMATIVE.
Wishing all of us a wonderful and blessed day.....
Great meeting format Ms Snoopy. I do believe all the confusion that was experienced at the transition meeting developed because everyone was waiting for John to arrive and chair the meeting. He did not attend and then someone kindly volunteer to chair. I for one am not a regular chat room attendee and did not know the established format for sharing= like how to indicate that you want to speak etc. I do believe that no agenda was developed because they felt John would host the next meeting and move us forward.
I have been unable to talk to John this past week . His nurse indicated he was holding his own and would call me back but I did not receive any call. I too have contacted the Board administrator and been advised of the amount due on the outstanding bills and received a breakdown of such. John has been ccd on all correspondence
Since he is the sole owner, I am hesitant about providing information to the entire Board that might appear detrimental to him . Since there is no plan to transition the Boards from John ,as yet it appeared premature to negotiate a format to replace him. The Board web administrator has been informed and states that they want a signoff from John to move forward.
There is still time to accomplish all we need and I believe the next meeting will be more professional. I have advised the meeting chair and others from the committee of my findings and am hopeful. Tanin from the AA Board has volunteered to co administer the Boards and the financials are manageable . Still attempting to connect with John,
Hello, Iamstrong. I was present at the original meeting called for by John on 1/15/17, 6pm EST. Without John in attendance, it is true there was some uncertainty, but those who were there for the duration of the meeting witnessed clear and transparent movement toward completion of one of the goals John set: appointment of representatives from the groups, along with establishment of the next step.
The largest group on the MIP board, AlAnon, received nomination of two representative members, hotrod and Kenny. These two were voted in by majority, with no dissenting votes. Member representatives from AA, NA, and ACOA were discussed and received at least partial fulfillment. Nominated representatives from those groups agreed on a meeting the following week during which they would move on with the discussion regarding the future of each group and MIP as a whole.
I have a transcript of that meeting, and do not see your name in discussion nor in voting, unless you were under a different name. The second meeting was set up for the elected representatives, and not intended to be an open discussion. I am very confident in the representatives chosen during that meeting, hotrod and Kenny, and their ability and commitment to work with the other representatives to do what is best for the board, group, and MIP.
Our representatives, and hotrod in particular, have expressed that they are doing all they can in their capacity. If you have questions about what transpired during the first meeting, I would be glad to assist, just pm me. I am grateful for the wisdom of the group and the selfless service of its members

I draw on the 12 concepts that all of our groups have- about achieving accord and consensus.
There is enough goodwill around MIP to achieve this- and more...
I was concerned when john did not make his Tradition 7 call at the end of last year.
It would not make sense to make payments though his house grooming account.
Is there a way of making payment direct to Sparklit to keep the account current?
I am hopeless at digital technology- not my bag. I do know how committees work at a small town level. I believe we did this on the ACA board when we selected Mrs Snoopy and myself as group reps.
I might be a lot easier to meet here on the Alanon board... not only do we have minutes, but we have the whole transcript here which Alanon members, at least can see. It means that we all can keep up with developments 24/7.
Once the situation is stabilised maybe we could create a "clubhouse" board alongside the Steps board to cover our joint discussions and issues.
As it emerges there is a lot of goodwill and friendship here, round the MIP forums.
I was initially gutted about John... but then we do what we do in actual reality- we move forwards to build on his legacy. If we can do this while he is still around I am sure it will be a comfort to him...
I don't see minutes from last Sunday's meeting, which I was unable to attend. Does the Committee have a mission statement? What are its defined responsibilities?
I dont have much time to give any meetings or be part of this but I wanted to thank the people who are doing the service work here and working towards resolution. Its good to see the program at work in this process. Its good examples of tolerance and patience and letting go and letting God.
This forum has a higher power and all will unfold as it should in God's time.
Change can be a trigger for me and I can react through fear of the unknown, maybe thats a symptom of alcoholism. I hope the folks doing the work here and volunteering for the jobs know that they are appreciated and valued and I for one are thankful for all the are doing.
I spoke to John last night, although he sounds weak he is a trooper and vows to be at the Meeting at 6 PM on Sunday. During the conversation he indicated that he felt that establishing a different pay pal account for MIP would be best and that he is not completely ready to turnover his role at MIP.
He indicated that he would send me an email that would provide detailed information that we can use to implement the transition and would discuss his overview on Sunday. I believe at that time we will have enough information to develop future plans.
Meeting again next Sunday same time. Here's cut & paste of the chat - more will be revealed:
