Hope for Today Jan 10

Good morning everyone-

Today's reading is about how some children of alcoholics, ratheir than getting drunk on alcohol, get lost in emotional binges- unable to handle feelings, mood swings from euphoria to depression.  The writer points out that the first step is a helpful tool in remembering that without help, he/she is powerless over these binges.  Some of the tools that the writer suggests, as with any acceptance of powerlessness, is a call to a sponsor, reading the literature, getting to a meeting.

The thought for the day reminds us that if we make ourselves available, our HP can do for us what we are not able to do for ourselves.

For me this reading is a reminder about letting my own will go.  If I really accept there are times I do not have control or power, then I can use the tools of the program to help myself get through it.  If we are humble-we understand we do not have all the answers.  If we are willing-- we may be open enough to let our HP help us.  If we are open- we understand we can learn from others.  This reading also made me think of how profound the effects of alcoholism are; even for those of us no longer living with an active A, the effects are far reaching.  I am grateful for the program and for all of you as we our recoveries.

I hope everyone enjoys the day and is staking warm!

Mary

Thank you, Mary, many good points in this reading. No matter what the challenge in recovery, the basic, foundation steps bring relief: meetings, reading, sponsor, and leaning on a higher power...great reminder

Thank you Mary for your service, the daily and your ESH. Thanks Paul and Betty for your ESH too. I am one who needs constant reminders that there is a much better way than self-reliance and isolation. These are two defects that rise up when I am uncomfortable in my situation, and I have to be mindful of them often.

Turning my life over to the care of God as I understand him sounds easy - and works really, really well when I get there! As I started, all reading that remind me that I am blessed more than I know and God's got my back allow me to breathe deeper and feel the spirit within.

Happy Tuesday to one and all - may your day unfold as it should and may you be filled with peace and find your daily miracle... It's 57 degrees in my neck of the world and my dog really, really thinks it's summer time!!! Close enough - we're going to take a walk in spite of the hefty winds I can see blowing around out there.

Make it a great one!
