Happy New Year

Hello and Happy New Year! I just wanted to say hi and thank you to everyone for sharing your thoughts. In the past year that I've been on this board, it has been a lifesaver for me. So much experience (which I am sorry that all of you have) and wisdom (which I am grateful that you have).

Two things I am cautiously happy about:

We had a nice holiday. We went to see family, and for the FIRST time in 13 years, AH did not carry booze with him in the suitcase.  Oh he drank plenty, but he had to buy it.

He says he  going to resign from the position that he has which is at my same workplace. (Unstated reality: he should quit before he gets fired.) . Now, he hasn't turned in his letter yet (he said a few weeks ago he would do it in January), so I will not do the happy dance until our boss calls me into the office to confirm (because he will). I will try not to smile too big. Because the stress of having my AH do a crappier and crappier job while under my supervision has been eating me alive. It's bad enough to have a drunk at home but to have him at work too has been horrible.

Whether or not he follows through, for a few days I've had some light in my life that we haven't had in awhile. A good way to start a new year. I'm under no illusions about how long the light will stick around (did I mention that AH was drunk when we called him (he's currently out of town) so that he could wish littlest kid happy birthday? Oh such good family memories we're making) but if I've learned anything, it's to appreciate the little moments, and to let people know how much they have helped you, when they have helped you.

Thanks everybody for sharing and helping.

I wish us all the peace we can get in 2017.

-Fedora

Happy New Year Fedora  I agree completely with the above statement.    It is ithe noting and appreciating  the little things that truly  counts in the long run and I am pleased that you have shared this practice here.

Happy New Year to you too Fedora - I'm all for finding what's good vs. focusing on what could be better....may your peace continue through 2017 and may your joy magnify greatly!
