Alcoholic depressed daughter in law

My daughter in law has a severe drinking problem and other psychological issues.  Her behavior toward me is on again and off.  One minute she is nicey nice to me + then will completely shut me out.  I feel like I need to walk around on egg shells with her + be careful what I say. What's a mom to do when she is just trying to keep a healthy relationship with my son.

Welcome See, alcoholism is a dreadful, chronic disease over which you are powerless. Al-Anon is a recovery program for family members who find themselves "walking on eggshells"in  an  attempt to keep the peace.

You are not alone Al-Anon holds face-to-face meetings in most communities and the hotline number is in the white pages. It is a very important to break  the isolation caused by interacting with the disease and to develop new tools to live by so that we no longer have to walk on eggshells.

Please keep coming back there is hope.

Hope you are OK - I see that you've started another thread and getting some advice there.

Post on here , go into the chatroom - it's great therapy!

Get along to face-to-face meetings, hope you are OK

I would try to be as positive and understanding as I could be to my daughter in law. She most likely is beating herself up (mentally) and needs all the support she can get. Notice and praise (in a sincere way) anything she does to improve.
