Good morning MIP Family. Today's reading is about Step 10 and how we can use this step and all others to enrich our spiritual journey.
The reading talks about looking at others, and mentally adjusting 'things' about them to improve them. In recovery, using the steps, we are instead asked to let go of such thoughts and instead focus on ourselves.
When we can look at ourselves, and decide what improvements we can make, we grow. We can improve ourselves and continue to learn. Step 10 reminds us to be honest with ourselves, acknowledge our progress, admit our mistakes and recognize opportunities to grow each day.
The reminder -- When I keep track of my inventory on a daily basis, I no longer have to fear that I will fall into that vague, hazy state in which denial so easily takes root. When I turn this inventory over to my Higher Power, I know that I am moving toward freedom.
The quote from Alexander Pope -- "A man should never be ashamed to own he has been in the wrong, which is but saying, in other words, that he is wiser today than he was yesterday."

In my program, when I am working it as suggested, this step helps me align with our One Day at a Time practice. Upon awakening, I tend to do Steps 1-3 in my morning routine and efforts. I am reminded it is a new day, and I have power and control over me, my attitudes, my actions, my reactions and my attitude. We've often heard, "Changed attitudes improve recovery" - this so helps me each morning to align with my HP, which helps keep me centered.
As the day progresses, I attempt to do the next right thing, and align myself completely with how my HP wants me to be. As the day winds down, I do take mental (written at times) mini-inventories to examine what worked well, what could be improved, who I might owe an amends to and lastly what can I do different/better tomorrow.
I do so much better spiritually when I work this program every day, in all my affairs. Practice, practice, practice works well for me too - I am human and I will make mistakes! I can own them and right them - how powerful is our tools?
So grateful for all of you and MIP! Happy Thanksgiving for all who celebrate - make it a great day folks! Off to do my 4 pies! (((Hugs)))

Thanks IAM for sharing your thoughts on this very important step. I use this Step every day along with one, two and three, it keep me honest and if i am diligent in my practice it saves me from doing a huge 4 th Step at the end of the year. :) Have a Blessed Holiday

My hope is that you too have a blessed holiday! Pie 1 is done - Pie 2 is in the oven! Glad we don't get together until this afternoon - ha.ha.ha.ha....
I have truly learned the value of maintenance in recovery. It's so much better for me on all days where my recovery is surrounded by my actions/living. When I do daily step work, I agree - it helps me from having to do a big 4th step at a future point. For me, it also helps to let go of each day as it's ending with the desire to do better/different next time....
(((Hugs))) my friend!

Ha.ha.ha.ha.......so - I took 3 pies and 2 Cool Whips and came home with 3 pies, 2 cool whips, turkey, ham, green bean casserole, stuffing - *sigh* - we do a huge spread but our planning could be better!
We had as many deserts as we had turkey - and we had 2 turkeys + a large ham!
Grateful for a pleasant day with family and limited/little drama! I love how HP works in my life - our biggest drama makers were not present so the day was peaceful for all.
My prayer is each of you also had a blessed day - God is good!!!
