Good morning MIP family. Today's reading is about acceptance. It's a great one for reflection and I have it earmarked, so read it often.
Unpleasant realities are a part of life. While we may wish to avoid disappointments, we come to realize the only way to have serenity is to become willing to accept the things we cannot change. Acceptance gives us choices and is the start of freedom in recovery.
The writer discusses how helpful it is to have back-up plans. We do not have to just sit still when things go different than planned - if we've taken the action to have a Plan B, we can have a default action.
Today's reminder --- I no longer have to depend on any one person or situation in order to get on with my day. Today I have choices.

Before recovery, I fought everything and everyone always attempting to impose my will and how I thought life should be on others. That made me miserable, full of fear and full of anxiety and regrets. I truly thought if others would just act the right way (my way) then there would be peace. I find humor now in my will running riot...
Working the program and learning to accept that which I can change vs. that which I am powerless over has certainly given me freedom. Freedom of choices, freedom of action and reaction. My serenity is directly proportionate to my level of acceptance.
I am beyond grateful for the program, the steps and all the tools we are given. Life is genuinely good and my HP gives me what I need when I need it.

Good Morning IAH Thanks for sharing your thoughts on this important principle.
I did find that learning to accept life on life's terms and to stop fighting against "imagined windmills" has been a true gift of this program. Being able to state that ":I am powerless;"also help me to see my choices and act.

Ha.ha.ha.ha......I enjoy both but agree - football is a bit more fun! Of course, I enjoy college basketball too - I'm kind of a sports fiend.....that's the by-product of growing up with one TV, 3 brothers and 4 TV stations to choose from maybe!!
Who knows - but I do enjoy most sports.
