Tonight is my weekly home meeting and I usually look forward to it and feel the need for it. However, I decided to concentrate on program materials at home instead. I did a ton of running around today; constantly in and out of the car and tending to others' needs.....namely my 90 year old mother. Hubby was going to be out for a few hours tonight, so I knew it would be quiet in the house. No blaring TV, no commentary every 2 minutes about what is on the blaring TV, no questions about what I'm doing, why I'm doing it and how to do it better. It can be exhausting not even responding.....just detaching is work!
I started out feeling guilty for even thinking about skipping a meeting, but then I realized what I need, what I need to take good care of me is to stay home in the heavenly silence, in my jammies on the couch with my Al-Anon books, this site and a podcast. Ahhhhh.......
So while meetings are crucial; there is nothing like a meeting.........sometimes we have to really listen to ourselves and what will be the most beneficial to our spirituality.
Ahhh.....do you hear that? NO? Me either........ahhhhhh.......
Oh that sounds heavenly El. Your last comment....do you hear that? NO? Me either... made me really smile. I hope you are enjoying your evening to yourself. I can relate I LOVE those nights too. I cherish them whenever I can. In fact I plan to work from home tomorrow morning just to get some more quiet time in my house ALONE. Glad to see you are taking care of yourself! enjoy the silence.
Enjoy Ellen - I cherish my alone time as I no longer feel alone. My HP is always with me and that is one of many gifts this program has given to me! Great share on self-care!!!

Lovely share. Thank you. I so relate to the blaring TV and running commentary!
Love how you took care of you. Jammies on the couch in peace is truly heaven. I love podcasts too. I like to listen to them with head phones at very low volume. I hear them clear as a bell. Loud things I shut down too.
