The Courage to Change reading for August 28 speaks about sponsorship, in Al-Anon and how important it is to our recovery. By having a sponsor we find someone that we can trust and who will be there for us when we reach out.
When we first ask someone to be our sponsor, it is a difficult procedure because we find it hard to reach out and ask for help. When we find the courage to do so, and when she accepts and guides us gently through the steps with understanding and compassion ,we finally learn how to live life with trust and love.
.
In essence all we need is to be willing to use the tools, one day at a time and we will discover that we are worth saving . In the reminder it states that; learning to value ourselves can begin by having the courage to find and use a sponsor .
The quote is from Reinhold Niebuhr; "nothing we do, however virtuous can be accomplished alone; therefore we are saved by love."
Thank you Betty for your service, the daily and your ESH! It's a lovely sunny day here after rain and ... more rain for the last few days - off & on. I am out the door to a meeting and must admit I miss my sponsor when she travels or I have conflicts. I am very grateful that she was put into my life as she's a huge calming force to my energy. I've grown so much with her guidance and friendship and found her at a point where I was not sure there was more to learn/grow....I was so wrong and am so pleased that I've discovered another layer of me and spirituality.
I hope you have a marvelous day - back in a while!
No softball until this evening, weather permitting. It's been a calm restful weekend and I am grateful for the rest!
