The material presented
here is not Al-Anon Conference Approved Literature. It is a method
to exchange
information, ideas, feelings, problems and solutions on a personal
level.
When I came to Al-anon my morning prayers has included the Serenity Prayer, The Surrender Prayer and Just for Today. I like the Just for Today because of its similarity to the Decalogue of Pope John XXIII.
This morning I was struck by this part: Just for today, I will adjust myself to what is, and not try to adjust everything to my own desires. I will take my "luck" as it comes, and fit myself to it. I realized how often I would make others adjust to me, to what I think is right and best.
It's time to really put into practice that "I cannot control it". I have to really turn my will and life over to the care of God by adjusting myself to what is and take it and have faith that It is His Will. I have to take the events of the day as God steering the wheel of my life. As I once again say the Serenity prayer ... "and the Wisdom to know the difference".
Thank you for sharing this...I can really relate. I am really working on NOT controlling everything and letting God be the driver in my life. This is very helpful! Thanks for being here.
This is my favorite piece of literature and one which may be difficult ot embarce but oh so important to practice, So pleased you have found this practice helpful.
Another belter. Thank you. I think Im in Gods will and then I realise Im often fighting against what is and trying to make it what I want. To let go and drift with the currents is serenity. Im trying that today.x
Thanks for the lovely share - it is for me the literature that so often brings me back to center when I am leaning left or right! Keep working it.
