Courage to change 8/8

Today's c2c talks about step 6 and how daunting the prospect of change can be. Many of us find ourselves reluctant to let go of any more of ourselves for fear of "what will be left?"

Yet if we consider how far we have come since beginning our journey, we can see how much willingness to change we alreay have.

This reading reminds us that we shouldn't judge our own pace when it comes to change; if we try to push ourselves before we are ready then it will not stick; we can and shoud proceed slowly and if we truly want to be rid of certain behaviours and traits then we will know when we are ready.

"Remind me each day, that the race is not always to the swift; that there is more to life than increasing it's speed. Let me look upward into the towering oak and know that it grew great and strong because it grew slowly and well:. (Orin L Crain)

I know that when I first contemplated this step. I had that exact thought. If I let go of what is me, what will be left? I was truly scared that if i let go of my unhealthy behaviours (which I thought defined me) (I'm loyal, I always see the best in people no matter what, I can always turn a frown upside down) there would be nothing left of me.

Turns out there is.

Thanks for sharing this important reading Ms.M I love Step 6 as all I really have to do is become entirely ready to have HP remove my defects. I do this by keeping attending meetings sharing and remaining focused on myself. When I do this, HP has a way of showing me my "defects in action" and i can easily see how theses once valued tools really hurt me and then I am ready to have them lifted.

Love the simplicity of this program!! Have a lovely day.
