can anyone enlighten me on the success of buprenorphine treatment to help get off opiates. And do theses treatment centers usually incorporate 12 step work? Please help so I can be more informed.

I would also suggest that you ask the questions of the center you are considering/working with. In my experience with different RTC (residential treatment centers), even if they follow a 12 Step program of recovery, they may have different program structures.
