While I've been searching for an apt,and going ahead and getting my boxes to start packin, and the goodbyes to long time freinds of 40 yrs ,that part is sad,but it's time now ,it's time for me to go ,make a change to the good and get into the apt living sit.no more yard work yay,.makes for a very short day when busy like that,im gonna have todo some brain storming now on how to down size?? Any suggestions on this one I hope someone has had to downsize to here? I got 14 yrs of junk collected,I just might get it all into a small apartment ,this is a 1200 square ft house,I'm going for hopefully big rooms like a big bedroom.and plenty of storage.any ways I'm sure it will work it's self out with hp help.cause I'm leaveing it in his hands the results up to him my hp..hugs,still in recovery lu
I suggest that you wait until you have secured the apartment and are sure of what you no longer need-- Then I have donated some furniture to charity, books to the prisons and electronic equipment to the schools.
Take your time LU and trust HP
I did massive dump runs, if you have time drop off stuff at thrift shops,
Do yard sales, some people call the rummage sales to Take the rest. I
Was not selling home just dejunking all my stuff and moving to an apt. I
did not Really take a super lot left the home intact. I gathered, borrowed
and Collected many items.
I think your smart to downsize, i want no roommates myself i would
Go studio or rent a room if i needed. For right now i have nice two
bedroom Apt.
I helped my parents down-size 30 years of stuff - 3 levels of home. We sorted into 4 piles - Keep, Donate, Throw Out and Don't Know (this one came about because there were some pauses as my mom held things).
When all was sorted, and the new home was determined, we went back through the keep and don't know and had an estate sale. It's the fastest way if you want to sell but not always the most profitable.
Good Luck - ODAT!!!

Thank you 3 for the very smart esh,and that would be best is to wait till my apt is secure.may e I can pack up some things I don't need to just get rid of them,I'm gonna have to wait for my sister gets her stuff out of my way to her stuff is mixed up with my stuff ,not good, like dishes ,cooking ware, pots and pans it's a mess.but I have got boxes coming to me ,I told the nice young lady to just drop them off at my door,I'm getting a little excited ,just wished I already had my apt.....hugs lu
(((((HUGS))))). How could I not be grateful for this gift of MIP. This is my last day in Central Valley CA. I am going back home to Hilo and the future which incluses moving on from our house to?...I turn on this IPad and the first item. I get is this post and then the responses. Magic!!? No it is just exactly how my Higher Power guides me after I turn a need over. Will let you all know what comes about. It works when you work it.
i had the same dilema after 25 yrs of marriage moving from large 3 bedroom house to 1 bed appt. it was hard but i did it. I took a hard look at everything. I pared down clothes, only take the houseWARE STUFF U CA USE FOR YOUR SELF AND A FEW GUESTS Make sue you take the important papers. take only things that mean something to u. dont drag along mementos of past with ex.
i brought my dresser which holds tv on it and stores things in it. double duty items. things that make u comfortable and happy. eventually u will purge further in place when u are going through the healing. i got rid of alot of pics and things of my deceased parents and dumb things like stuffed animals, trinkets,un necessary bric a brac. called salvation or had yard sale etc
Its a hard process but i did it within a time frame
And i cleaned as i went. I erased most of my personal
stuff At the house so i Hopefully did not need to return.
I hope you find just what you need and want On your
own healing journey. I eventually want to go where its
warm In the winter.

When we moved from larger to smaller, we got a dumpster. I found that when the dumpster is just sitting there, it encourages you to use it, and we filled it to overflowing. I can't think of a single thing we threw in there that I now regret. We also did thrift shops for clothes, etc, but the dumpster really got us to get rid of crap.
