I am shocked that in this day and age I am still judged for being 36 and never marrying. It is not a goal of mine. I am not sure why coworkers think that I need to be married by now. I don't understand it. I meet so many people in their 20s getting married and they think I am from another planet. How can I look at this situation? What are your thoughts on these people that judge me?
Al-Anon has a saying: "What other people think of you is none of your business." It means that they can judge or not judge, it's nothing to do with us. Sometimes people like to tease, sometimes to pry, sometimes they're just interested, sometimes they're out of line - it doesn't matter. When we realize it's nothing to do with us, we can focus on the things that are more important.
What other people think of you is none of your business! It's a society pressure thing... You are who you are, very much an individual it seems, you don't need to run with the crowd or follow the herd. You are special you are thinking for yourself....good for you. And I don't blame you for being private, there are a lot of weirdos out there. But do keep a healthy relationship with your favorite friends. And stay close to Alanon. Linsc
My son is 39 and never married. I think alcohol had a little to do with it but who cares. He is his own person and he is good with it and doesn't care what others think.....he's good!!
I myself will never marry again....it's not worth it LOL ( my own feelings for sure )
((( hugs ))))
