The material presented
here is not Al-Anon Conference Approved Literature. It is a method
to exchange
information, ideas, feelings, problems and solutions on a personal
level.
The C2C reading for June 26 talks about" Forgiveness". It points out that when we come to Al-Anon we may be full of bitterness towards many people. However,in time, we discover that this bitterness only hurts ourselves more than anyone else and determine that we need to search for another way.
We also find that asking for help and reaching out is a difficult process .The disease of alcoholism has helped many of us to do just that, W can use these tools to help carry the burden and I can be grateful for the lessons learned.
Quote is from Mary Mcleod Bethune ; "forgiving is not for getting, it's letting go of the hurt.""
It is great to remember that holding onto resentments only hurts me. Letting go, I am allowing myself to experience a more loving life today.
I found that being willing to let go of my anger and resentment also helped me to forgive. Have a great day
Thank you Betty for your service, ESH and the daily....I have a mind like a steel trap and can remember and recall many things. Unfortunately, that same mind 'sees' many past events through the lens of this disease, making my perception of the events/hurts all about me and what others did 'to me'. The program has helped me forgive, let that go and realize that most things that I see where done 'to me' really had nothing to do with me, but rather are a reflection of the other person and where they are in their life journey.
I can honestly say that seeing others as LTP (Less Than Perfect) and through a new lens of humanism instead of alcoholism has allowed me to forgive and be free of many resentments. I believe anger, resentments and looking at the fault of others stunts my growth in this program and I had to let it all go to move forward.
Have a marvelous day - off to a F2F meeting! (((Hugs)))
