This program is a miracle. Since my last post much has changed. The ABF stopped drinking. It was a terrible withdrawal-shaking, sweating, anxiety, sleeplessness, restlessness for 3 days straight. Its now been a month and he remains sober. He found beer and vodka, coolers in the house that I had hid and GAVE THEM AWAY! I was beyond shock. This is a person that could not leave a single bottle alone and here he was giving the alcohol away to the neighbor. I am still in amazement that all my detachment has worked. I just left him alone to drink and drink and he finally hit his bottom. Since, sobering up, he has been working 12 hour shifts around the house, painting, cleaning, organizing the house he has neglected for 5 years due to heavy drinking and working. He is now on unemployment and today, we are driving across the country for a trip to his hometown, which is 4 days drive from where we are living. This is a miracle from my higher power. The home is now so much saner, I can sleep and wake up to normal. I am so grateful! I find he is very irritable as he is not working a program but I am detaching as much as I can. I am just so grateful for sobriety today. I also thank everyone on this board for their support. I am focusing on one day at a time and not thinking to far into the future. I do not know how long this sobriety will last or if this relationship will. But for today, it workable. I am working on keeping my sanity for today. Just wanted to update everyone and say thanks again for you awesome support!
I am glad you are safe and okay, keep up your
Alanon ftf mtgs and working your program
especially now that things are calmer.
Alanon saved my sanity when i was living in
Insanity and riding the crazy train. I got much
Stronger on the inside the more i worked on me
And left my qualifier to his own choices.
Joker, thank you for the update! I love your "one day at a time" attitude. I believe miracles do happen, with a little help from our friends, when we reach out.
(((Joker))) - thanks for the update! Positive thoughts and prayers headed your way!!

(((((Joker)))))...My prayers now is that he find a/the program to introduce himself to who will stand with and support sobriety efforts. I am happy for you and remember when you first came home to us...those pins and needles that you feel are not your circulation being cut off its your spirit wanting to continue the dance and play with the gift. Have a great trip...prayers continuing.
