hp- be his or let him be your tin God???? What's the definition or what exactly is this meaning? What is the message it's trying to get across and is everybody got a diff. Interpretation of this saying .?Plz anyone give me esh on this one....confused......hugs lu
Hi LU This is not excerpt from any alanon literature that I can remember. The definition of a tin god is a bossy person who receives more respect than he or she should receive. In alanon we suggest that each of us find a Power Greater than ourselves that we can trust .
In the beginning, I found the Power of the alanon rooms, the tools and principles as a Power Greater than Myself and because I witnessed the Power of this HP and it was not a "TIN God" I had no problem "Being His" by attending meetings and practicing the tools.
Sticking with alanon Conferene approved literature ,in the beginning, helped me to comprehend the program and the priniciples.
I guess it means trust god with everything or else you do not believe
I'm a little confused on the question. Could you please restate it with a little more detail? I don't want to give the wrong answer, or a more confusing answer.
For me, my higher power is God, but others see things differently. I do know the saying let go and let God refers to allowing your higher power to take your burdens from you because we are powerless over anyone or anything but ourselves and our own actions. When we stop trying to control and give our burdens to our HP, we are relived of them and can live our lives with peace and a security in knowing "He" "has our back"
Perhaps reading the short reading/poem Footprints will help make it more clear.
Here is a copy:
One night I dreamed a dream. As I was walking along the beach with my Lord. Across the dark sky flashed scenes from my life. For each scene, I noticed two sets of footprints in the sand, One belonging to me and one to my Lord.
After the last scene of my life flashed before me, I looked back at the footprints in the sand. I noticed that at many times along the path of my life, especially at the very lowest and saddest times, there was only one set of footprints.
This really troubled me, so I asked the Lord about it. "Lord, you said once I decided to follow you, You'd walk with me all the way. But I noticed that during the saddest and most troublesome times of my life, there was only one set of footprints. I don't understand why, when I needed You the most, You would leave me."
He whispered, "My precious child, I love you and will never leave you Never, ever, during your trials and testings. When you saw only one set of footprints, It was then that I carried you."
Thank you Betty for clarify img that for me,I now understand .i got that from somewhere on Internet and got confused for a bit,and Ty doingmybest ,I love that footprints ,I have that in a book mark card..
