I know it's not realistic to expect everything to be rosy and perfect once you choose to follow AA or Al-Anon. However, you hope that the residual effects could hold off a little, until you feel more confident.
It's been 12 days since our "life changing" night...the last night my AH drank, and the night he decided would be his last. Unfortunately, because of some bad choices, and my poor health, our finances have been a wreck. Today, because we were behind on payments, his car was repossessed. We had been waiting for a commission check, that never came, and hoped we would be able to make a payment on Monday. Well, today, a two truck came and took the car. It was just before my husband had to coach a ballgame.
I have to say he handled it well. I'm sure he was focusing his attention on the ball game at hand, and decided to deal with these thoughts later. His team won, and his words were, "Now, back to reality".
So, when we got home, I asked if he wanted to do our Daily Devotional. He said he wasn't ready for that quite yet. I stayed quiet. When he finally settled a bit, he asked if I would sit with him and pray, and if I would lead the prayer. I prayed for HP to help us through this situation and to keep us strong, in Him. I prayed that HP keep both of us focused on the good steps we both have taken, and to keep the negative thoughts out of our mind.
We don't have the money to get the car out of the repo place right now. My husband just contacted the president of the company he works for and asked for an early settlement check on some contracts he has put in place this month. He agreed to do that, but it's probably going to be too late, since the car will be put to auction in a week. I guess it will be one day at a time....one hour at a time. I have to keep focused on me, and pray for my AH not to be knocked down by this.
If you pray, please pray for us. If you just think good thoughts, please send good thoughts our way.
(((sweetness))) - from my world too - positive thoughts and prayers headed your way!
