Today's c2c speaks of how we can become so overwhelmed with worry and responsibility that we forget to enjoy the simple things.
As a example, the reading describes how in their earlier life they had loved the stillness of mornings but that living with an alcohlic had tranformed their mornings into just another time of frantic worry and endless things to do, suggesting that no matter how early they got up, they were "already late" and feeling sometimes so overwhelmed that they couldn't get up at all.
With al-anon, they go on to say, they have re-learned to stop and appreciate things like mornings, taking time for breakfast and so on.
The reading reminds us to stay in the moment and be aware of what we are experiencing right now, not letting the beauty of the day "slip by unnoticed'.
The quote is from Albert Camus :Real generosity toward the future consists in giving all to what is present"

I can certainly relate to allowing no time or energy for anything but worry, and then being unable to even get out of bed. What a difference it has made to my productivity, learning to be in the moment and making time to enjoy life each day instead of feeling duty bound to endless worrying!!

Thanks Ms. M. I love this reading and the concept of being in the moment, and appreciating the goodness and beauty that is there . The quote is perfect- it reminds me that I can take care of my future not by worrying about it but by staying in the present moment and being aware of all the goodness and beauty that is there.
Great read and great share - thank you MissMel for the daily and for your service.
I can so relate to the before and now aspect - I often woke up and already felt behind. I rarely if ever truly enjoyed all the blessings in my life as I was so focused on what was not working vs. what was working. I do now stop and 'smell the roses' each day - it's a beautiful world we live in when we truly look around.
Living in the moment and the present truly grounds me. When there appears to be chaos stewing or brewing, I often, with the help of Al-Anon, can just stop and breathe and pray and realize I am OK and it will be as designed by someone more powerful than me.
(((Hugs))) to all - make it a great Monday!!

Thank you for the post and shares. I too can relate. Prior to coming to the Halls, I was consumed by the past or future, never enjoying the moment. I missed many things. Today, living in the moment is peaceful and much more rewarding. I'm more at ease and able to see the beauty in small things. It's so rewarding. I realize today that the world will continue as it should be without my thoughts, worry or input. Thank you to God and The Program for the change in thinking.
We have the daily readers on our breakfast table and yes this was a very very nice read. I am and will continue to be grateful for the tools of our programs. (((hugs)))
