Miraculous half a day. Thanks HP and Al Anon, AA too

Breathing rich, fresh air. What a wonderful half day so far. A is sleeping, waking up sleeping. In between, he is doing v useful things for himself and for me.

Took him out for a morning ride when we had wonderful breakfast (at 1/5 the cost. V imp. He usually likes only expensive breakfast.) He was happy that I was happy. He cooked lunch. And the best part - drumroll pls - he has not asked for money so far today. Usually, pushes for a couple of drinks.

Something is working .. at least for the past 2 days. Watching watching .. not overanalyzing. Cant believe this life ... from that deathly feeling a few months back to this. Al Anon works for sure. I need to do much more though. But, we are doing much better than when he came out of rehab.

He is without a job for 3 years, but does chores around the house. Working on that.... better now

He does not go to AA meetings on his own. I go along .. working on that ... better now

He was eating a LOT after he was out of rehab + lot of ice cream... working on that ... better now

Detaching with love ... not totally yet .. but huge progress. Hoping for that final miracle .. willing to work .. willing to wait. But .. i can never ever let my guard down.

Manas, thank you for sharing.  It is wonderful to see how working the program is making a difference for you.  "Better now" is a great expression of our slogan: Progress, Not Perfection.  I hope the rest of your day was good, too.

(((Manas))) - thanks for sharing your ESH!!! Progress is what we seek always, forget about perfection....it's over-rated!

Keep coming back and keep doing what you are doing - it looks great on you!

Rest of the day went fine too. He woke up after two deep "naps" that lasted 4-5 hours . Took him to a meeting. A v good one for us. Some quality time at a park with some junk food, light dinner and sleep. All in all, a beautiful day.
Now, the next day has begun. Again with a nice ride, breakfast. And, oh oh! Did he smoke something before I woke up? I dont know, didnt ask. He's a bit lost, but ok. He was exhausted after breakfast at quite a distance from home, requested me to cancel the trip to a morning meeting (the most famous AA meeting in our city). On the way back .. there it comes .. he got some drinks home. I dont know what he did while I napped peacefully. I am up now and he is napping..
Another interesting day. Another day that will hopefully go well with Al Anon tools' deployment. No anxiety so far. No letting guard down. Optimistic that Al Anon and HP will do the job today.

This is the first time I've seen that motto. Progress, not perfection. I like it. I definitely like it. It sounds like you're both making progress. And now I'm thinking about all the progress I've made in my own life. And the progress my boyfriend has made. It is giving me a sense of peace.
I'm impressed at how well you're picking out the positive things. You aren't dwelling on the negative at all. Wow.
