Healing

So just because I wanted to share.... my RAH and I love to sit and write together, he loves to play the guitar... anyway I had a small poem I started and he said lets make a song... its AMAZING!! Its healing, forgiving, empowering!!

So it got me thinking, what do you do to aide in your healing?

Writing. Spending time with others (ie meetings and other things) even when I think I don't want to (to get out of my own head). Making time to laugh- that's a big one. When i first started trying to heal I was in a pretty deep depression and forced myself to read a funny book for 20 minutes every day. It always made me laugh at least once and it helped a great deal- to know that no matter how rotten I felt, even if I'd been in tears all day, I could still laugh. Now it's just part of my daily ritual.

I set the timer for 20 minutes. Then I sing out loud to sheet music, youtube, iTunes or the radio. I do especially well if I chose songs with the EEEE sound.
Breathing deeply as I do with singing helps me feel better too.

Getting exercise, especially in the sunshine, lets me sleep very well. That makes me feel better, too.

I look forward to others' wisdom on this.

Oh I love it Miss and Jill, I can relate to your ideals too. Journaling was a huge thing for me in the beginning, getting my thoughts out even if they sounded absurd. Meetings have been such a powerful way for me to share my feelings and not feel judged, which has taught me that I too can trust others and be trusted. Then of coarse working thru some of those really deep things with my sponsor.. knowing I would be ok in letting my secrets out and just having someone to help me.

I appreciate your responses.

I'm a walker/jogger and love to work my body......that feels healing to me - mentally, physically, psychologically, etc. I also love prayer/meditation and digging in the dirt (gardening).

Great thread.....lovely shares!
