Courage To Change 29/2

Today's courage to change reading likens our journey to the functioning of an auto-pilot system in an airplane. It explains that the automatic pilot is in fact only "on course" a small percentage of the time, and the rest of the time is spent meandering across it's course and making adjustments when it strays too far off course.

The reading concludes that our journey is very much like this; we will rarely find ourselves perfectly "on course" but but by being willing to make plenty of mistakes and adjusting for them we can use mistakes as "an inevitable part of the adventure of living" (I like that).

The reminder tells us that we can learn to navigate our HP's course by using trial and error and being willing to continually make adjustments for error.

The quote is from Alcoholism, the Family Disease and says "A person who makes no mistakes usually does not make anything".

***

I love this quote, it's a keeper.

And I particularly like this reading as it's so easy to become weighed down by my mistakes and see them as evidence of my failing instead of markers of a successful journey. What a difference it makes to my attitude and enthusiasm when I choose to see my errors as positive steps on my journey!!

Hi Ms.M Happy Leap Year.

Loved your share on today's reading in the C2C.  At  the start of my alanon journey, I found  that one of my many defects was that I was always looking to"freeze my life" when it was good and became very upset and frustrated with even the slightest change .  The insanity within me  wanted to be on "automatic pilot" and only experience the"good" things.  HP had other plans and wanted me to experience life to the fullest with courage, serenity and a little alanon wisdom.  No automatic pilot for me .  Today after going through the hard uncertain times with alanon tools an support I am
truly grateful for the mixture of , joy , sadness, success and failures that  I have experienced.

Thanks for your wisdom and your service.

Thanks MissMell for the daily, your ESH and your service. I also can relate to the teachings in today's reading. I was one who also looked at my mistakes and missteps as proof of my failings instead of steps along the journey to learn from and grow from.

I am beyond words grateful that the program has shown me nothing happens by mistake. All that I have gone through, good and bad, was designed to make me the person I am today. I can find peace and comfort on this journey no matter what is going on around me, and that is a gift that I never had or realized I could have before Al-Anon.

Make it a great day everyone - Happy Leap Year!!!

Awesome reading and share on what it means to you Miss M! I can relate and used to pick myself apart for my failings, now I see all the growth they have brought to my life. Still learning and rerouting to stay on course, but enjoying the journey all the same!
