New Here

I'm so glad I found this site.  I'm new to this site but not new to alanon.  I've been reading a lot of the posts and the words are like water for someone dying of thirst.  I work in a treatment center so I'm around just barely treated alcoholism every day...I've got some time in AA, which is where I've spent most my time in the past number of years, but know that I need more alanon than aa at this point.  My boundaries are nonexistent and I've let go of all my alanon tools that I know work, and feel sick and crazy because of it.  I look forward to getting to know people here.

Outlandergirl

Welcome to MIP and the Alanon message board.

You know what's so great about this life is that we can chose to begin again at any moment. Those tools will return to you, they are just a little rusty.
Remember all the works you did to reach sobriety and now you will continue on the path of more recovery.

Just keep coming back and you will hear and gain the experience and encouragement of the members who keep sharing the message that there is strength in working the program and the support of others who share this space...

You already know it works if you work it. Hugs to you Bettina

Welcome Outlander Girl and your post is the second time I've heard that story today.  A friend of mine who also is in AA was speaking with me at this mornings home group and she share it.   She has years of sobriety and is now married to a long time recovering alcoholic with a huge dry drunk ism.  She knows she needs more than sobriety and wants serenity.  She has directions to the Al-Anon Family and will be there with us I know.  Higher Power is working...keep coming back.   ((((hugs)))) smile

Thanks everyone for the warm welcome.

Going to get on a noon phone meeting and a f2f alanon meeting tonight. My life and sanity depend on it.

Welcome and ((((Hugs))))

I read a quote today - "Stories are for people what water is for plants," and my heart said "YES!!!!!!" in response. In the past I felt so alone, but as I read stories and share my own here I feel myself grow and be nurtured back to health. I know this feeling, dying of thirst, and I know this is a wonderful oasis of caring and compassionate listening, a place for which I am grateful. Thanks for joining us and having the courage to share.

Welcome. Donna, just from your intro, I can tell you we have some major things in common. I work in treatment also, came here from AA, and boundary work was just what I needed too. Welcome!
