Looking up,

We also have free will...we don't have to be attached to suffering. I don't think that slogan applies if you are suffering and going thru a nightmare. I believe you slander your life when you allow yourself to suffer and let others run over you and take advantage of you. Then that is your fault, not there's, addicts are going to take and take.

First things first, now that's another slogan. That would be learning good boundaries. If it were me, two alcoholics is one two many, one would have to go. Nothing changes if nothing changes is another slogan. Insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different outcome, is another

My hope for you would to really attend some face to face Alanon meetings and to work the steps. This program works if you work it.

Hugs,
Bettina

Hello looking up your question is very thought-provoking and one I have batted around with several people over the years. I do believe we came up the fact that life is a spiritual journey and that we often make choices that appear destructive and out of left field that are part of the our particular spiritual experience.

When I am running on MY free will, without trusting or seeking guidance from HP. I am exactly where" my self-will "has brought me-- Any time I could change, surrender and ask HP for guidance, listen with an open mind and then act with faith, hope and courage.

HP wants us to have full life filled with powerful experiences. With Al-Anon tools of detachment, compassion, empathy and love, living one day at a time we can experience life without being destroyed. Living with the disease of alcoholism is extremely destructive to our mental health and spiritual well-being. Attending meetings, praying for guidance, working the steps especially four through 11, helps in changing my attitude and direction.

I would tell sister that life is a process and that you are learning new tools.
You are doing well
