Courage to Change Reading 1-9-2016

The C2C reading for January 9. talk about our usual habit of  looking outside of ourselves for approval. It points out that our projects may be very successful.but we do not feel good about anything unless it is acknowledged by others.

It suggests that everyone does  need an occasional pat on the back or applause from others, but if this becomes the reason for my behavior then I have given away my power to other people.

We must realize that everyone is involved in their own lives and concerns and that people may forget to notice the terrific things that I've done or may not be comfortable praising  me.   I don't have to take it personally. Self-pity and resentment are not my only options.

We can learn to evaluate our own actions and behavior, and to value our own judgment. without the approval of others.  This approval may be enjoyable but we  no longer find it essential. The reading then suggests that ,"Just for Today", I will appreciate myself and I will not look to others for approval.

Quote is Carl Jung:" Your vision will become clear only when you can look into your own heart"

The Al anon program is  indeed a powerful asset in learning how to live life to the fullest while still interacting with others in a healthy  fashion

Thank you Betty, such good advice! To be so comfortable with oneself, without consistently needing approval!

Read that at the breakfast table with my wife and peanut butter/honey waffles and coffee and said out loud, "That Carl Jung is a smart ass".  My wife doesn't believe my changes are positive so she jumped up to protect Carl...LOL   He of course was right on and I am glad we have him in our program literature.    (((((hugs))))) biggrin

Ha.ha.ha.ha......too funny Jerry! I agree - he was a wise one - eh?

Betty - thanks for your ESH and the daily. For me, when I looked beyond myself for my worth, my esteem or my value, I was perpetually disappointed...

Thanks to Al-Anon, I can be different and I look inside me now for my peace, my power and my worth. Gratitude is a word but doesn't truly represent what I feel about find Al-Anon and all of you.

Make it a great day family and (((Hugs))) for all!!
