Just had a revelation....When thinking back on the timeline of just the most recent events of deterioration in my family (not including what has transpired over the years in total)...Im am absolutly blown away at what felt like an eternity was really only events that transpired over a 12 month period. All of the fighting, anger, wasted energy, anxiety, lying, loss of trust, crying, sleepless nights, financial ruin, counseling sessions, weight loss, fear, depression, insecurity, poor health, disappointments, disgust.....etc, etc., etc,.....that my kids and I put up with on a daily basis (literally)....just gives me new perspective on just how much of a grave force alcoholism (or any addiction for that matter) can be in a family whose loved one is dealing with this disease...it can literally kill you just as much as the alcoholic if you let it.
You are absolutely correct Hopeful This disease is indeed a fatal one for everyone involved . It is progressive, as you have noted and affects the entire family That is why recovery is so important. Keep coming back There is hope and help
