Courage to Change Reading 1-7-2016

The C2C reading for January 7, speaks about the Just For Today pamphlet. . It points out  that the suggestion that  "Just for today we will have a quiet half hour all by ourselves to relax, is a very important recommendation. The reading acknowledges " How simple it sounds"!!! "How difficult it is to spend time alone.!!!"

When we finally do attempt to do this, we will find that  amazingly, these quiet half hours are restoring us to sanity.  It is through these times with myself, much of which is spent in prayer and meditation that I find the peace and power of God. and I did learn to tolerate and enjoy my own company.

. Now, no matter what is going on in the design of our everyday in order  to get a perspective on my life,.I must care enough about myself to take a quiet half hour to connect with HP. If this half hour is more than I can manage then I will give myself 15 minutes and let that be OK  Every time I allow myself to  use this  tool  is a step forward.

And the quote is from Ovid;:"Take rest for the field that has rested gives a beautiful crop."

Lovely share Betty - thank you for your ESH. I agree it's restorative - and that it's a challenge to accomplish.

I either have a distracted brain or I fall asleep....ha.ha.ha. - thank goodness the program is about progress and not perfection!

Have a great day!

Thank you for this! I have recently started meditating and writing for fifteen minutes in the morning, and it is a definite sanity-preserver. I love the quote from Ovid, and will write it in the front of my journal.

Quiet time is restorative because our lives are being constantly bombarded with noise. I definitely need to be more intentional to carve out time daily for mindfulness (in)activities.
