I just want to point out that my only local Alanon meeting is guilty of just talking about the events of the day & sometimes even gossip. We have times when it seems like Alanon is not spoken there. Maybe we struggle so much because we are a small group & several newcomers. I just hope that we can get back to the program weekly. I hope my experiences can help others & that the time I have spent in the rooms will make a difference. I do not know it all obviously but I do know that the program works. I didn't post this totally from the reading. I only got what I could from memory of part of it. I thought I would share a little ESH.
Hi Kathleen I know that alanon meetings can falter at times. This is a fellowship of equals with no leaders, only trusted servants so tht I have found that if we draw on the experience of the Traditions and follow the outline of a healthy Business meeting we can easily get back on track.
Thanks for sharing your thoughts
Thank you ladies - I believe I am lucky that we have a decent size group and I don't 'see' or 'hear' this.....there's been a few moments that I felt uncomfortable with some discussion one says about another, but I just didn't participate and moved on. I am grateful that I am part of a larger group with some good, long time, hard-program-working women....
A business meeting with a reminder of how this program works might help ... I try hard to be an example and speak with my actions/reactions instead of my words. Sometimes it works, and sometimes it doesn't.
(((Hugs)))
