Update- Step 12

I love all of the updates I'm seeing from over this weekend. It inspires me to share as well. I can't believe where I am in my journey right now. Five years ago I was feeling lost and hopeless- only going to Al-Anon meetings kept me from giving up. My how things have changed. I just returned from a weekend retreat where I served with a team of facilitators. The weekend is a healing ministry for people who have experienced a loss through death, divorce or separation. We were able to be of service to 10 people who were in a world of hurt and who desperately needed to be supported in order to start healing. We, as facilitators, each shared our personal journeys towards healing. Many of the participants suffered broken marriages due to their spouses' alcoholism or addiction. It took me a lot of courage to finally decide to write down and share my story, but knowing that my story provided hope to others who are currently experiencing what I did when my marriage started to unravel due to my AH's disease, made me feel like I had come full circle. HP does good work, glad I can be a messenger for Him. Step 12 in progress!

Don't lose hope! We are all miracles in progress.

Green Eyes -

What a great share! It warms my heart to hear that you were able to find your courage and share your story to help another. In my experience, there is no greater feeling than when I can be of service to someone else. Giving it away is a better gift in my experience than anything else.

Thank you for stopping by and telling! I love it when we get to see the program in action - way to go!!!

Love your update green eyes? God working
Thru your giving and caring ways. I received
A lot of that type of help in my divorce care group.
They are very religious people mostly reaching
out helping ohers in need. They opened up my
Soul that i forgotten i even had. Both alanon and
Divorce care has helped me on my journey to
Emotional,spiritual and mental health.

I too hope to some day be of servive to others

Thank you for such a powerful share Green Eyes . I appreciate your courage and clarity.
I too have found that all the pain, sadness and broken dreams that I endured was not wasted-Not only did I grow as result but that HP placed me in situations where I could inspire others as then walked a difficult road.
I agree We are all Miracles in Progress.

Mirandac- I also participated in DivorceCare up until my AH's sudden passing. It's a great program and I have met some wonderful people through my participation in that program. In fact, one of my co-facilitators at the retreat is currently in DivorceCare and couldn't say enough good things about how it's helped her. I also met some people at the retreat who are attending Al-Anon and asked if I attended based on what I shared in my talks. It was great to connect with them on how Al-Anon has provided us with such great support.

Thank you greeneyes. Our soul is often so forgotten
In this disease and all its dysfunction. I Even met
with the minister to help me and was told i had trust
Issues and i needed to trust God. I listened to her,
She was great she also knew first hand about alcoholism
And was very well educated on the subject.

Whatever works and helps us get our balance in life
Again. I keep trying to go forward and stay out of my
Xah stuff. Its hard after so many years he is still a big
Part of my being, his rejection is Gods protection. I
Know that intellectually, it needs to Be faced in My
Heart and soul. One day to a time.

Greeneyes,

Thanks for sharing about your journey from a newcomer to a seasoned member of Alanon. The weekend retreat sounds like such a wonderful extension of the service of Alanon. How nice that you choose to give back in this way by allowing yourself to be vulnerable through sharing your story. It offers so much hope when others can see and hear someone whose story echoes their own who is now in a better place in their life. Glad you take time to carry the message here as well.

Thanks for the uplifting share. ((hugs)) TT
