The material presented
here is not Al-Anon Conference Approved Literature. It is a method
to exchange
information, ideas, feelings, problems and solutions on a personal
level.
C2C reading for 11-20 speaks about alcoholism being a" family disease."
It suggests that because of this it is important that in Alanon we find fellowship, a sponsor, steps and traditions so as to help heal a broken spirit.
This healing starts when we stop fighting the idea of HP and found one that honored who we were and who could/would restore us to sanity
.In the beginning I used the rooms and principles of the program as my HP. Thanks to this simple discipline, I have found a true God of my understanding who is perfect:: love, compassion. intelligence, wisdom, generosity , humility and serenity . This God loves me unconditionally and is willing to walk with me and support me in my life
.
The reading also reminds us that taking time to enjoy life, to smell the roses and enjoy a scene is a true simple gift that we an give ourselves each day.
The quote is from: "George Bernard Shaw":"Life is no brief candle to me. It is sort of a splendid torch , which I have gotten hold of for the moment, and I want to make it burn as bright as possible before handing it on to future generations "
Thanks to alanon principles and tools I can do just that
Betty - Happy Friday and thanks for your service! The quote for today really speaks to me. How true is it that we are here to burn bright and then pass it on to future generations...
I've heard it said many times that this is no dress rehearsal....it's real and it's true and it's here and it's now.
I am grateful that I have also found a HP (called God also) of my understanding whom I can place my will and trust in. My concept has changed as I've grown in this program and I no longer have 'fear' of retribution as I had/felt from my FOO and youth.
Healing for me truly didn't happen until I accepted that this disease reaches well beyond the diseased. I knew I was acting crazy, but just assumed I was more flawed than others. When I found Al-Anon, I was able to apply a reason for my craziness, and then begin to work the program and reduce this/improve.
Grateful for all the gifts of Al-Anon, and so grateful for everyone here @ MIP!
(((Hugs))) to one and all!
