The C2C reading for November 18 speaks about the Second Step and being" restored to sanity." as the Step implies.
The reading points out that being "restored to sanity" covers more than our ability to function responsibly and realistically.-- It also points out the sane way of life, alsoh includes the willingness to play, to take a break and to cultivate a hobby. Having a good laugh is feeling that higher power is restoring some of my sanity.
If we see nothing but our troubles we are seeing with a limited-mind. Dwelling on troubles only allow them to control me and limits my view of good that is in my life. When I take time to play to laugh and to enjoy taking care of myself, I give HP my life and trust that HP will take care of the rest.
The quote is from.As We Understood: ; "now, I look for humor in every situation and my HP is a laughing God who reminds me not to take myself too seriously."
I have found a much bigger difference in developing a sense of humor as opposed to my destrucyive sarcasm, which was in a negative way of looking at the world and everyone in it.
Being able to look at the situation and see the humor in it is a gift of this program
Thanks Betty for the daily!!! I love this reading as I had to learn to find the humor in many situations. When we live with or maneuver through this disease, and are able to 'step outside and look', it can be so crazy that it's comical.
For me, if I wanted to work on recovery and have peace of mind, I had to change my thinking. I had the habit of always looking at what was not working instead of looking for what is working. I am so grateful that I now have the program and tools to change my way of seeing what's around me and finding joy, humor and gratitude.
There is much good in my life and I wasn't even able to 'see' it before I arrived and surrendered. Step 2 helped me see how absolutely chaotic I was and things were, and allowed me to own it. Step 3 and beyond helped me understand my part and patterns that could be changed. I am a work in progress and that's OK with me - my life and actions/reactions are healthier than before.
Today, I will celebrate my less than perfect life with humor and a smile! (((Hugs)))

Love what you shared, Betty. I never struggled to laugh or have fun or pick up hobbies honestly; but I know so many who do. I am currently re-working step 2 right now with my new sponsor so I was very grateful for this share today! HUGS!
