Love this reminder Debbie. I learned to" listen to learn " at my alanon meetings. I did this by staying within my thoughts, stopping judging, evaluating and critiquing whatever was being said , allowing the words in to be processed, and then and only then responding from my heart and not my head.
I then brought this process out into all my interactions and what a difference it made.
I also became aware that I was always rehearsing what i was going to say and not listening. Alanon's no cross talk principle cured me of this. In ather words I became "Teachable" for the first time in a long time. Great topic.
The reading today is about listening and learning. Its a good one. Ive been trying it today and its true you do hear good stuff. It says its true humility in action. I would agree, its a precious thing to give anyone, a set of listening ears. So valuable and not just to get our word in or tell our side just to really listen. Brilliant.
