Suffering for me is not even an option any longer. When I am restless, irritable or discontent, the steps are always the answer. A spiritual approach to daily living has brought me a new perspective and a new set of tools to use. It's my choice to live and work the program or not. My life, outlook and attitude are much better when I am living the program vs. when I am not.
In a meeting this week, with a couple of newer folks, we were asked how you go from being other-focused to self-focused and not feel guilty or selfish. It was clear and evident to me that most, if not all of us living with this disease went through our days, weeks, lives putting everyone and everything else first. The program doesn't tell us to walk away from these things and only do for ourselves - instead it tells us to put ourselves first and then place others second. Setting boundaries and detaching with love give us the framework on how to do this most effectively.
So grateful for the gift of the program, the steps and the fellowship - here and locally. I can not even begin to know what my life would have been like without it....but I do know it's much easier with it!
(((Hugs))) to all and TGIF back @ ya!
